Junior Achievement's mission is to inspire and prepare young people to succeed in global economy.

Our corporate and community volunteers deliver relevant, hands-on experiences that teach students in kindergarten through high school the basics of financial literacy, work readiness, and entrepreneurship.

JA programs empower students to make a connection between what they learn in school and how that can be applied in the real world to own their economic success.

Junior Achievement of Southwest New England serves seven Connecticut counties (excluding only Fairfield County).

This year, JA of Southwest New England plans to serve 33,000 students through virtual, hybrid, and in-person programs.

JA of Southwest New England, with an office based in Hartford, has been recognized by JA USA for six consecutive years for financial stability, student growth, and overall management efficiency.


Position Description:


Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Maintain education database in BCRM, Excel tracking documents and electronic/hard copy files for educators and volunteers.
  • Work with program staff to organize volunteer, teacher and school information, creating spreadsheets as needed for JA in a day and related programs
  • Manage the ordering, intake and tracking of all curriculum materials and minimize excess inventory.
  • Schedule education department meetings, scribe and distribute minutes and action items in timely manner
  • Maintain and update policies and procedures manual
  • Maintain department inventory, supplies, postage, and equipment
  • Reorganize/repackage education materials as needed per specialized programming.
  • Provide support to other departments as needed, including the CEO as necessary
  • Other duties as required

Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's Degree preferred plus 24 years' experience working as a administrative assistant in a nonprofit field. Experience in Education a plus.
  • Strong relationship management and team building skills with the ability to work with a variety of constituents including educators and volunteers, both corporate and community based.
  • Respect for and demonstrated adherence to strict confidentiality guidelines
  • Proven experience, passion and commitment to providing superior customer service
  • Keen attention to detail and proven ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
  • Ability to multitask and adapt in fast paced frequently changing environment
  • Familiarity with databases and online curriculum platforms
  • Computer literacy, including Microsoft Office, Google Suite, CrossKnowlege and experience with User Managements Systems and nonprofit databases (i.e. BCRM, Raiser's Edge, QGiv and First Giving)

$ $27.00 per hour
