POSITION TITLE:

REPORTS TO:

Senior Director, E-Commerce & Supply Chain Management**The
Purchasing Agent's primary function is assuring that the company's purchasing activities, throughout the entire order process, are conducted efficiently to meet business needs.

The Purchasing Agent will check the Open Order Report daily, as well as the customer forecast, to assure that the proper materials, in the proper quantities, are available when needed.

The Purchasing Agent's secondary function is to serve as back-up to the Master Planner.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Utilize ERP/MRP system for planning, forecasting, and procurement.
  • Prepare purchase orders, solicit bid proposals, and review requisition for materials and services.
  • Manage purchase order life cycle from negotiation, creation, internal approval, production, maintenance and until final delivery to support the overall operations.
  • Obtain price quotes, order quantity, and manage delivery schedule with suppliers to provide the best pricing and delivery requirements for the company.
  • Support quote requests and followup with both the internal and external customers.
  • Ensure pricing is accurate and confirm expected delivery date with vendor
  • Communicate delivery information as requested.
  • Monitor shipments to ensure that materials come in on time and in the event of problems, trace shipments and followup on undelivered materials.
  • Review open order report daily and expedite orders to ensure delivery requirements are met.
  • Review vendor forecast and notify team on inventory needs.
  • Discuss with vendors and analyze vendor's operations to determine factors that affect prices and deliveries.
  • Collaborate with staff, users, and vendors to discuss defective or unacceptable goods or services and assist with corrective action.
  • Review invoice discrepancy and resolve issues within the acceptable turnaround times.
  • Search for cost reduction or process improvement opportunities without direct instruction.
  • Maintain files of supporting and appropriate documents.
  • Set up and adjust the Bill of Materials and Routing of items in JD Edwards.
  • Follow and support the creation of new items from conception to final execution.
  • Manage the phaseout and phasein of items as necessary including components and finished product.
  • Work as a backup to the production planner including scheduling orders, generating master execution documents, adjusting schedules based on demand and other tasks as needed.

Required Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, or related field and 12 years' experience in Supply Chain activities, preferably in a manufacturing environment.

Job Requirements

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
  • JD Edwards experience is a plus.
  • Time management and project management skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, negotiation, leadership, problem solving and communication skills.
