ColonialWebb is seeking a recent graduate or soon to be graduate in Engineering or Building Construction, to join our team as an Electrical Estimator.

As an Electrical Estimator, you will support our Richmond team which focuses on electrical systems in hospitals, high-rises, government facilities, data centers, and universities.

A day in the life:

Work with an experienced estimator to learn how to:

  • Learn the estimating process for electrical/mechanical, plumbing, piping and sheet metal projects
  • Account for labor, material, equipment, subcontractors, and other direct costs within estimates
  • Review plans and specifications to determine the scope of work
  • Prepare and augment drawings, takeoff material and accurate surveys
  • Coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure accurate and competitive pricing
  • Develop value engineering options that reduce costs and enhance the quality of work performed
  • Support sales team and other department personnel as needed
  • Enter and interpret data for estimating and other preconstruction operations
  • Gain knowledge of construction equipment and techniques, drawings, and specifications

You should have:


  • Recently obtained or pursuing a bachelor's degree in engineering, building construction or have comparable electrical contracting industry experience
  • Possess analytical and problemsolving skills to resolve complex problems
  • Ability to manage customer relationships, perceptions, and expectations
  • Ability to deal diplomatically and work professionally with a variety of people (i.e., managers, owners, project managers, field leadership, vendors, and tradespeople)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Creative thinker and attentive to details
  • Tech savvy, proficient in Microsoft Excel
