Work days/FTE
6 weeks in summer; Monday

  • Friday
8:4- 1:15 OR 8:4- 3:15 (extended day option)

22.5 to 35 hours/week


Salary
$ $25.00/hour depending on role & experience

Education:


  • Associates degree preferred, but not required

Specialized Knowledge:


  • Familiar with the developmental needs of children, including their social and emotional needs
  • Commitment to the principles and practices of diversity, equity, belonging, and antiracism

Experience (preferred, but not required):

  • 12 years of experience working with groups of children, preferably in an educational, camp, or childcare setting
  • Experience with diverse populations of children and supporting students with special needs
  • Experience planning and leading recreational activities for groups of children
  • Experience working collaboratively as part of a team
  • Experience communicating with families

Specialized Skills:


  • Bilingual skills, especially Spanish, are highly desirable but not required
  • Must have effective interpersonal and communication skills
  • Willingness and ability to work cooperatively/collaboratively as member of a team
  • Must be able to multitask in a fastpaced, supportive environment.
  • Must be organized and able to meet ongoing, timesensitive deadlines for work production.
  • Must be able to ride and supervise students in a school bus for up to 1 hour at a time for field trips and/or transportation to the pool

Job Goal:

Pegasus is an inclusive summer recreational program operated by Wayland School Community Programs for children in Preschool through Grade 5 in the Wayland School District.


We have the following positions available this summer:

  • Team Leaders
  • Group Leaders
  • Special Education Assistants

Responsibilities:


  • Plan, provide, and/or support recreational activities for groups of Preschool
  • Grade 5 children, in a variety of areas including, but not limited to:
  • arts and crafts
- gym games
- music and movement
- drama
- literacy
- science

  • Work collaboratively as a part of a creative and fastpaced afterschool environment
- hone your "kid-skills"
- share your unique talents
- be a valued member of a professional child care team

  • Assist children in working and playing harmoniously with other children
  • Assist/lead the supervision of children
  • Maintain confidentiality of information about students;
  • Supervise program as directed by supervisor
  • Any other relative duties as assigned.

- operate a computer and other school/office/educational productivity machinery;
