- Prepares day-to-day and month-end close entries including revenue, payroll, prepaid expenses, unbilled accounts receivable, and accrued liabilities.
- Prepares complex reconciliations for necessary balance sheet accounts and various other general ledger accounts, as needed.
- Assists with the month-end and year-end closing process.
- Develops and maintains an understanding of the accounting operations. Responsible for recommending and enforcing the internal controls, policies, and procedures.
- Prepares customer invoices: CPFF, T&M, FFP; Interacts with clients as needed.
- Code and process all vendor invoices in an accurate and timely manner.
- Review all invoices for appropriate documentation and approval prior to payment.
- Review and process all employee expenses.
- Assists external auditors and tax accountants at year-end with preparing schedules, providing explanation of supporting materials and procedures, and preparing any other necessary data. Assists in preparation of the year-end 1099 submissions.
- Assists project management with reports.
- Responds to requests of team members and manage deadlines.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (Required) with a minimum of 2 years of experience;
- Solid understanding of government contract accounting (Required);
- Proficient with Costpoint (Required);
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Professional, and an enterprise system;
- Problem solving abilities, discretion, strong ethics;
- Strong understanding of Accounting Principles, knowledge of GAAP;
- Understanding of general and subsidiary ledgers and financial statements;
- Understanding of government contract compliance regulations found in the FAR, CAS preferred;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
- Detail orientated with strong analytical skills;
- Time management and organizational skills with ability to manage multiple initiatives and client requirements;
- Experience with 8(a) companies especially with Tribal or Alaska Native Corporations is a plus;
- Knowledge of construction accounting is a plus

Miami Nation Enterprises is the economic arm of the federally recognized Miami Tribe of Oklahoma. Its purpose is to pursue economic development opportunities for the good of the Miami Nation and its citizens. Miami Federal is a group of companies, (all SBA certified as Tribally owned 8(a)s) providing construction, information technology, software development, facilities management, training, event management, and environmental services to both the Department of Defense and civilian agencies.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY:
This is a key position supporting federal contracting projects in the full spectrum of accounting, finance and compliance. This position will provide accounting and finance support to Tribally owned 8(a) companies. Be able to work in a multi-company environment. Excellent potential for career growth in a collaborative team environment.
This is a hybrid position with 3 days per week onsite in Reston, VA.
