What You Will Do
Responsible for the coordination of activities to enhance patient placement and throughput.

Uses effective clinical, communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with key persons, physicians and departments to facilitate and maximize patient throughput.


Required Qualifications

  • 1 Year Experience in an acute care hospital setting
  • Experience working as a nurse in a clinical setting within the last year
  • California Registered Nurse (RN)
  • CA Board of Registered Nursing REQUIRED

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing

Essential Functions

  • Bed management
  • Constantly evaluates all needs for patient placement.
  • Acts as central contact for decisions related to bed management during the shift of assignment.
  • Identifies barriers to timely discharge movement of patients on units and interfaces with unit leader to facilitate bed flow.
  • Assists with identifying appropriate resources when obstacles/barriers occur.
  • Collaboration and communication
  • Facilitate communication and coordination intrahospital, interacting in a respectful manner that takes into account special needs or age specific needs.
  • Collaborates with nursing, physicians, case managers and interdisciplinary teams to admit, discharge or move patients to higher/lower levels of care.
  • Maintains and communicates global picture of hospital capacity at all times.
  • Customer service
  • Deliver excellent customer service by exhibiting courtesy, direction, image, introduction, dignity, comfort, information, response,
confidentiality and teamwork as defined in the customer service standards.

  • Data entry
  • Enters appropriate data in the Transfer Center database.
  • General support
  • Participates in projects, data collection and other activities designed to enhance bed operations.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Good interpersonal skills and clinical expertise to quickly make sound placement decisions.
  • Ability to work effectively in an interdisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrates competence with a variety of computer systems.
