    THOR Solutions is actively seeking a Shipboard Electrical Technician you will provide technical assistance, assessments, inspections, troubleshooting, corrective actions, adjustments/repairs and groom support as well as on the job training to Ship's Force during any shipboard evaluations as needed.

    Primary Responsibilities: The candidate's responsibilities may include (but are not limited to) performing or supporting the following actions:

    • Observe and conduct cold/hot checks of equipment, noting condition and parameters for any out of specification readings or settings, as requested.
    • Conduct oversight of repairs being conducted to equipment for technical completion and standards onboard ships or shipyards.
    • Observe operation of specified systems and equipment by ship's force to witness the full range of performance.
    • Attend conferences, seminars etc, on request, reporting discussion points, results, or outcomes to the appropriate government SME.
    • Provide on the job training to Ships Force during any shipboard evaluations as needed.

    Security Clearance Eligibility Required: This position requires a DoD Secret security clearance. A qualified candidate must either:
    • Already possess an active or interim Secret security clearance (preferred);
    • OR be eligible for a Secret security clearance upon hire.
    Worksite: Full time onsite in Norfolk, VA.

    Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
    • High school diploma/GED equivalent.
      • Associate degree, technical school diploma, or vocational certificate in a relevant discipline is preferred.
    • Demonstrate proficiency interpreting shipboard drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams, as well as technical manuals and other associated manuals, instructions, and procedures.
    • Must also possess the ability to trace signal paths at the equipment and systems levels.
    • Qualification as a US Navy CIC Watch Supervisor, Chief Electrical Watch, Electrical Plant Control Console (EPCC), or Engineering Officer Of the Watch (EOOW) on a conventional powered ship, or a load dispatcher on a nuclear powered ship, or commensurate commercial qualification/certification.
    • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in availability planning, modernization, repair and testing of shipboard electrical systems/equipment.
    • Minimum four (4) years' experience utilizing US Navy 3-M and supply systems.
    • Be familiar with and ensure compliance with:
      • a. Joint Fleet Maintenance Manual (JFFM)
      • b. NAVSEA Standard Items
      • c. OPNAVINST series)
      • d. NAVSEAINST C series)
      • e. OPNAVINST N series)
    Preferred Skills and Experience:
    • Five (5) years' experience (within the last 10 years) troubleshooting and conducting corrective and preventive maintenance on shipboard power distribution, interior communications, and/or electronic systems.
    • Current certification as a Level 1 Thermographer (Infrared Survey)
