    Job Overview
    XPECT Solutions, Inc. is looking for a Senior level Database Engineer to provide support to our Federal customer out of Washington, DC. The Senior Database Engineer will be responsible for ensuring performance, integrity, and security of the units PostgreSQL databases.

    The Database Engineer needs to possess a strong background in PostgreSQL to be the technical lead for the database team.

    The ideal candidate would have a robust background in database administration, architecture, and PostgreSQL development.

    Core Responsibilities (to include but not limited to):

    • Design and implement database architectures that support business requirements and achieve high performance, availability, and security.
    • Oversee the installation, configuration, and maintenance of PostgreSQL databases.
    • Conduct performance tuning of database systems, including queries, stored procedures, and indexing strategies.
    • Develop and implement database backup, recovery, and failover procedures.
    • Assist in the design and development of data models and database solutions.
    • Collaborate with development teams to optimize database code in application layers.
    • Provide guidance on database best practices to IT staff and other stakeholders.
    • Ensure database infrastructure is uptodate with the latest technology trends and security patches.
    • Develop and maintain documentation regarding database configurations, architectures, and procedures.
    • Serve as the point of contact for databaserelated queries and technical support

    Requirements:

    • Active Top-Secret Clearance with the ability to obtain an SCI
    • A Counter Intelligence Polygraph is required after start
    • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
    • Strong expertise in PostgreSQL database administration, tuning, management, and security.
    • Proficiency in SQL and experience with PL/SQL or similar procedural language.
    • Familiarity with database design, documentation, and coding.
    • Previous experience with Linux/Unix and scripting languages such as Bash, Python, or Perl.
    • Knowledge of high availability and disaster recovery options for PostgreSQL.
    • Good understanding of hardware performance, memory and I/O.
    • Strong analytical and problemsolving skills.
    • Excellent communication and mentoring skills.

    Preferred Additional Skills and Qualifications:

    • PostgreSQL certification (e.g., PostgreSQL Certified Engineer).
    • Experience with cloud services (AWS, Azure, OCI) and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
    • Familiarity with other database systems (e.g. Oracle and MSSQL)
