Position Summary:


Reporting to the Accounting Manager General Ledger, the Accountant I will be a key member of the EG America Finance team responsible for accounting activities related to the general ledger operations.

General duties include (but are not limited to) prepare journal entries, reconcile accounts, analyze accrual and prepaid trends, and assist with month-end allocation process.

This position requires proficiency in Excel and general ledger software. Must be organized, detail oriented and comfortable working with large data sets. Must be able to communicate well and collaborate with other team members.

EG America is a convenience store operator with nearly 1,700 company owned and operated locations across the United States. EG Americas store support center is located in Westborough, MA.


Responsibilities:


Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
Prepare general journal entries

Analyze accrual and prepaid trends

Create expense analytics to evaluate month-over-month spend

Assist with month-end allocation process

Reconcile general ledger accounts

Maintain process documentation

Aid in the maintenance of the month-end close portals

Collaborate with non-finance departments/cross-functional teams

Identify areas for improvement and assist with implementation, as appropriate

Perform special projects and other duties as assigned by manager

The above responsibilities are to be carried out in accordance with documented company policies and procedures. All of the above will be accomplished collaboratively but will also provide opportunities for independent decision-making.


Working Relationships:

This position will work closely with all Finance Teams and other key business segments/cross-functional teams.


Minimum Education:
Bachelor degree (Accounting), or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience


Minimum Experience: 1-2 years of accounting experience


Preferred Experience:

Retail industry experience.
Experience with Oracle ERP and reporting tools.
Strong Analytical and problem solving skills.
CPA or Masters track applicants are preferred

Other Requirements:


Travel:
No travel required


Hours & Conditions:

This position requires reporting to the office three times per week with an option for a hybrid work schedule of two days per week from a home office.

The hybrid work flexibility is up to department managers discretion and requires LST approval.


Physical Requirements:
Minimal physical effort required; sitting / standing at computer for long periods of time. Ability to maneuver and lift up to 10 lbs.
