Position Summary:


The Process Technician is responsible for processing organic material into compost through monitoring of the environmental systems including temperature, oxygen, moisture, C:N ratio, bulk density and porosity.

The Process Technician also is responsible for the safe operation and maintenance of compost testing and process equipment; and is accountable for the ongoing monitoring of such systems, working with Operations Management and Lead Operators to ensure that all work adheres to safety regulations, as well as federal and state requirements.


Principal Responsibilities:


  • Collects representative samples for laboratory analysis including mailing samples and data analysis of results. Works with Operations Manager to relay laboratory testing and discuss any concerns with processing constraints and product quality.
  • Responsible for operating and troubleshooting ASP pads.
  • Assists with Contamination Policy enforcement and controlling contamination through the process through manual labor, mechanical separation and scheduling transportation.
  • Troubleshoots and corrects compost processing and mechanical systems when necessary. Responsible for establishing compost turner settings, grinder settings and screen settings to produce maximum quality compost product for the end use. Report more complicated issues to management to ensure timely correction.
  • Manages and troubleshoots environmental systems (stormwater, leachate, odor) to ensure it continues to operate in accordance with safety standards, federal and state regulations.
  • Performs compost surveying activities as required.
  • Prepares and submits required reporting data relative to compost processing including influent and effluent volumes and other related systems.
  • Conducts daily recordkeeping to site fuel use and balances.
  • Site recordkeeping to track processing efficiencies, temperatures, odor investigation, weather station data, etc.
  • Responsible for OMRI testing, reporting and licensure.
  • Performs all responsibilities in a safe and efficient manner, ensuring adherence to all safety regulations that govern job performance; ensure ongoing compliance with all applicable federal and state requirements.
  • Performs other jobrelated duties as assigned or apparent.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:


  • Fulltime employment.
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM 3:30 PM, or 3:00 11:30 PM Monday
  • Friday, with a 30minute lunch.
  • Overtime may be required.
  • Onsite: This role necessitates your presence at our facility for work.
  • Salary: $21.50 per hour to start based on level of experience.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:


  • Pass a Pre-Employment Physical, Drug Screen and Alcohol Testing
  • Pass a Pre-Employment Background Screening
  • Pass the OSHA HAZWOPER 40hour Training

Qualifications:


  • Knowledge of, and ability to use, computer based tracking tools for recording composting data on a daily basis.

Minimum Requirements:


  • High school diploma or G.E.D.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience working at a site regulated by OSHA.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience working with compost operating systems.
