The City of Elk Grove is currently recruiting for its next Real Time Information Center Manager The Real-Time Information Center (RTIC) leverages multiple technology platforms to provide the most up-to-date information and intelligence to stakeholders within the Police Department and City.

The RTIC functions as the Department Operations Center during critical events, as well as our emergency management branch of the City.

Representative Duties:


Under general direction, plans, develops, organizes, implements, and performs the daily oversight of the services and activities of the Police Department's Real Time Information Center and functions as the coordinator of the City's Emergency Response and Preparedness program.

This classification supervises staff assigned to the Police Department's Real Time Information Center.

Duties include coordinating with a variety of public safety and emergency management agencies, City departments and other entities to promote effective operations.

Trains and directs staff in the monitoring, operating, and interpreting of multiple interactive technological systems regarding emergency and criminal calls for service; acts as an advisor to City executives in the role of coordinating emergency response and preparedness activities; and other related duties as assigned.

  • Oversees, develops, organizes, supervises, reviews, and participates in the work of staff responsible for performing a variety of program and project activities in the Police Department's Real Time Information Center.
  • Oversees and coordinates emergency service activities including?developing, implementing, and maintaining the City's emergency preparedness and disaster relief programs; oversees and directs a variety of emergency related community education programs including disaster preparedness programs.
  • Develops and implements goals and objectives as well as policies and procedures; makes recommendations for changes and improvements to existing standards; monitors work activities to ensure compliance with established policies and procedures.
  • Develops job specific operations, directives and technical manuals as needed for the Police Department's Real Time Information Center and Emergency Response and Preparedness programs.
  • Plans, schedules, and?assigns work of assigned staff and volunteer workers, sets priorities, and follows up to ensure coordination and completion of assigned work; participates in selection decisions, evaluates employee performance, counsels employees, and recommends initial disciplinary actions.
  • Establishes schedules and methods for providing services; identifies and reviews resource needs with appropriate management staff; and allocates resources accordingly.
  • Participates in the preparation and administration of program budgets; submits budget recommendations; monitors expenditures; identifies and obtains grants and other outside funding sources to support programs.
  • Coordinates requests or inquiries made by outside entities/agencies involving cameras/digital evidence; responds to difficult, complex, and/or sensitive matters regarding Real Time Information Center activities; ensures all systems, including cameras, are used for law enforcement or public safety purposes consistent with department policy.
  • Researches and stays current on legal opinions and rulings, regulations, best practices in policies, procedures, technology, and training to ensure that the rights of individuals, EGPD employees and the City are protected.
