    Summary:


    The Imaging Supervisor works closely with the manager and acts as a liaison between staff, physicians, nurses, and support staff in order to maintain smooth operations of the department.

    The Supervisor assists with development of section budget, exam protocols, staff competencies, orientation and training.

    The Supervisor conducts performance evaluations, staff daily assignments to meet productive staffing levels, assists with equipment maintenance and selection, ordering of supplies, and staff education.

    The Supervisor is familiar with revenue cycle needs for testing areas and meets all requirements of staff technologists to take direct clinical assignments:

    Practices principles of radiation safety and is responsible for using ionizing radiation to locate, evaluate, and record pertinent anatomical, pathological, and functional data and coordinating patient flow to obtain requested imaging studies in a fast paced environment.

    This is achieved through order verification, Quality Assurance of the imaging equipment, proper patient identification and obtaining appropriate imaging following approved policies and protocols.

    The Supervisor may be involved as part of a procedural team and will treat patients of all age groups which include infancy, pediatrics, adults, and geriatrics.

    Must be knowledgeable of age specific protocols, flexible to cover a variety of shifts as needed.


    Responsibilities:


    Greeting customers, patients and co-workers with a friendly smile and using AIDET when appropriate (Acknowledge, Introduce, Duration, Explanation, Thank You).

Uses strong coaching methods to develop staff and just culture methodology when disciplinary actions are necessary . Rounds routinely with staff providing feedback and support. Supports and embraces change in job and EMMC. Proactively seeks out solutions to problems for self, co-workers, patients, and visitors. Continually develops skills and/or job knowledge. Participates in skills training opportunities available to him/her.

    Takes pride in the appearance and growth of EMMC and acts in a way to promote the same Keeps current on hospital and departmental information by reading e-mail communications and review of the section communication logs.

    Attends 90% of staff meetings and participates in discussions, unless excused absence. Reads and initials minutes of staff meetings that were unattended.     Reviews and works within the scope of practice for position and obtains necessary CEUs to maintain licensure and/or registry/certification or both.

    Completed Icare training as required for prior year. Adheres to "EMMC Code of Conduct" and follows all applicable compliance policies/regulations. Works safely and follows all safety policies; reports incidents or hazards immediately.

    Has enhanced knowledge of both State and Federal regulations, inclusive of OSHA and JCAHO and is able to assist with inspections- both internal and external.

    Evaluates image quality in area of responsibility and performs monthly QA audits to ensure adherence to department protocols. Reviews specific cases with staff as necessary and recommends corrective action. Continually works to improve quality of images and work flow processes. Assists and supports accreditation certification requirements and maintenance. Must obtain IV, I-Stat (prn) and pressure injector competency if supervising CT and MR. Acknowledge and support the culture of safety by maintaining knowledge of policies and references (Dr. STAT/Fire protocols- RACE/PASS/Sharps Disposal/Waste Disposal/Infection Prevention/Reporting systems/Universal Protocol/MOAB) as well as maintaining safe environment), daily room checks, emergency equipment maintenance, MRI safety guidelines, willingness to speak up if something identified as concerning). Provides excellent customer service, both for internal and/or external customers. Responds to communications (phone calls, voice mail messages, and emails) in a timely manner.

    Consistent and reliable attendance, including communication and attempts to find coverage when legitimate issues prevent or inhibit attendance Minimizes patient delays and is flexible when calling for inpatients to ensure the exam room is ready upon patient's arrival.

    Notifies appropriate personnel to release/return the patient upon completion of the test, transports patients to nursing units as necessary. Provides a clean and orderly work area.

    Arranges for equipment maintenance when needed, ensures supplies and forms are available in work area, emergency supplies are in each exam room.

    and restocks supplies as needed and at the end of your shift. Proactively anticipates and alleviates situations which could result in a patient/customer complaint. Practices service recovery when needed. Reports and files all patient incidents, complaints, and HIPAA compliance reports immediately within the appropriate online system. Responsible for staff schedules and ensuring timely response for coverage when unexpected needs present.

    Oversees daily workflow in areas of responsibility, strives to improve interdepartmental communications, participates in QI activities, tasks groups, and audits as requested.

    Seeks out ways to reduce operating costs or increase efficiency within role/department. Acts in a cost conscious manner with regard to use of supplies.

    Makes effective use of time at work Promptly performs the exam complete function to enable timely report availability and billing.

    Demonstrates knowledge of daily charges and is able to reconcile billing errors. Ensures correct financial encounter is used in the RIS when performing the order entry in Cerner. Knowledge of applying the correct modifier when appropriate. Reviewing daily charges for correct charges. Complies with productivity goals regarding staffing level adjustments as needed due to volume changes and down-staff when appropriate. Is ultimately responsible to ensure there is adequate coverage while being fiscally responsible with staff assignments. Uses supplies and equipment conscientiously reducing waste and damage. Checks expiration dates of all supplies regularly and prior to each use. Works with purchasing to find the most cost efficient supplies when ordering. Works closely with management to develop and meet budgetary projections, both monthly and annually. Collaborates to identify opportunities to positively bridge gaps in budget. Assists with development of and adherence to department budget

    PREFERED EDUCATION:
    Bachelors of Science, ARRT in area of responsibility


    MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED:
    Certified by the ARRT, and licensed by the state of Maine.

    Bachelor's degree or commensurate experience in area of responsibility equal to 2 years for each of the two years of secondary education.


    MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
    A minimum of 4 years clinical experience in area of responsibility. Demonstrates leadership ability to direct workflow effectively and good problem solving skills.


    PREFERED EXPERIENCE:

    Must be able to hear and verbally communicate with patients, family members, physicians, healthcare professionals, department staff, students, etc.

    Must maintain current certification(s) and continuing education. Treats patients of all age groups and is knowledgeable about development needs across the span, and appropriate age-specific equipment. Demonstrates ability to perform quality control tests, audits, special projects and participate in quality improvement processes. Will be required to work a variety of shifts including weekend, holiday, and call coverage as needed.
