    Summary:
    The Shift Supervisor for Imaging Information is an essential team member in the imaging department.

    This support staff position must have excellent customer service skills and assists with disposition of imaging records and other clerical responsibilities, works closely to assist doctors, technologists, and sonographers with various tasks to ensure efficiencies in the provision of quality care.

    Responsible for management of timely and efficient processing of patient/health information and have the ability to multitask with a variety of interruptions.

    Provides direction and supervision for all functions within Imaging Records and clerical needs. Must be competent and have a working understanding of the duties required by all under his/her supervision.

    Exercises authority to hire, transfer, suspend, lay off, recall, promote, discharge, assign, or otherwise discipline employees under his/her supervision, coordinating such actions with the department manager and/or Director.

    Must be flexible to cover a variety of shifts as needed.


    Responsibilities:

    • Greeting customers, patients and co-workers with a friendly smile and using AIDET when appropriate (Acknowledge, Introduce, Duration, Explanation, Thank You). Listens carefully and avoids interruptions in interactions with both patients and co-workers.
    • Supports decisions made by the management team for the short- and long-term goals of the department.
    • Must demonstrate communication skills, confidentiality, and good judgment when passing information on to the staff.
    • Makes timely and appropriate decisions and acts through empowerment to handle situations to resolution and/or refers to appropriate person when necessary.
    • Channels suggestions and criticisms and questions in a constructive manner.
    • Able to resolve conflict and able to conduct himself/herself in an appropriate manner to set an example of conduct for the staff.
    • Remains flexible and willingly accepts changes in assignments, scheduled working hours, imaging locations, etc. to meet patient care needs.
    • Maintains a calm and knowledgeable demeanor, keeps composure under stressful situations.
    • Provides input of staff performance appraisals, clearly identifies strengths and areas for improvement.
    • Uses strong coaching methods to develop staff and just culture methodology when disciplinary actions are necessary.
    • Rounds routinely with staff providing feedback and support.
    • Makes deliberate effort to meet the requests of each physician.
    • Demonstrates a commitment to cooperation and satisfying the needs of hospital guests and customers.
    • Provides a clean and orderly work area. Arranges for equipment maintenance when needed, ensures supplies and forms are available in work area.
    • Proactively anticipates and alleviates situations which could result in a patient/customer complaint.
    • Practices service recovery when needed.
    • Reports and files all patient incidents, complaints, and HIPAA compliance reports immediately within the appropriate online system.
    • Responsible for staff schedules and ensuring timely response for coverage when unexpected needs present.
    • Ensures written orders and reports have correct information including correct encounter prior to sending to medical records.
    • Uses computer to track images, reports, medical record number etc.
    • Understand requirements of release of information to meet medical records guidelines.
    • Oversees daily workflow in areas of responsibility, strives to improve interdepartmental communications, participates in QI activities, tasks groups, and audits as requested.

    Other Information:

    • Must be thoroughly experienced in working with Imaging Information Department functions and flow of the imaging record process through completion.
    • Ability to deal tactfully and professionally with physicians, hospital staff, and public.
    • Responsible for management of timely and efficient processing of patient/health information on the appropriate shift. Must have ability to work productively with constant interruptions.
    • Must be competent and have a working understanding of the duties required by all under his/her supervision.
    • Will contribute to performance evaluations of staff under supervision.
    • This position entails extensive customer service and phone utilization skills. Must be able to hear and verbally communicate with patients, family members, physicians, healthcare professionals, department staff, students, etc. Able to communicate with patients of all age groups and is knowledgeable of about development needs across the span, and appropriate age-specific equipment. Must have excellent interpersonal skills.

    • Required Associate's Degree

    Associates degree in radiologic technology, or Health Information Technology.
