About the Facility – Piedmont Atlanta Hospital

When Dr. Loui G. Bayne, a trailblazer in pediatric and adult hand surgery, established the practice. With a team of fellowship-trained, board-certified orthopedic surgeons at the helm, the practice excels in addressing a spectrum of injuries and conditions affecting the elbow, forearm, hand, wrist, as well as intricate cases involving the brachial plexus and peripheral nerves. With a commitment to patient well-being, the center attends to over 10,000 patients annually, catering to diverse needs spanning congenital differences in newborns to sports injuries in teenagers and arthritis in adults. A hallmark of their approach is the direct involvement of physicians at every step, ensuring personalized care and continuity throughout the treatment journey, be it nonsurgical or surgical.

CRNA - RESPONSIBILITIES (listed are included but not limited to)

The CRNA conducts comprehensive pre-anesthetic evaluations, including obtaining health history, conducting physical exams, and ordering relevant diagnostic studies.
Administer appropriate pre-anesthetic medications and ensure patient readiness for anesthesia.
Obtain informed consent for anesthesia procedures, including induction, maintenance, and emergence.
Provide preoperative and intra-operative care, including preparing equipment, monitors, supplies, and medications.
Manage all aspects of airway management, including inserting peripheral venous catheters and performing Bier Blocks.
Utilize non-invasive monitoring techniques to assess patient status and adjust anesthesia as needed.
The CRNA monitors patient response during emergence from anesthesia and implements necessary pharmacological or supportive interventions.
Conduct post-anesthesia follow-up evaluations to assess patient recovery and surgical outcomes.
Administer respiratory support as necessary to ensure adequate ventilation and oxygenation post-anesthesia.
Initiate and administer pharmacological or fluid support for cardiovascular stability in the post-anesthesia period.
Discuss anesthesia options and associated risks with patients, ensuring informed decision-making.
Perform anesthesia induction, maintenance, and emergence procedures safely and effectively.
The CRNA monitors patient's physiological conditions and intervene clinically as required to maintain stability.

CRNA - REQUIREMENTS

Have graduated from an accredited program in nurse anesthesia education.
Must have and maintain board certification or be recertified by the AANA Council on Certification of Nurse Anesthetists.
Possess a current license as a registered professional nurse and hold a current license to practice medicine in GA or have a multi-state license.
Have at least one full year (12 months) of experience as a CRNA.
Possess BLS and ACLS certification through the AHA or ARC.
