- Reading, understanding and interpreting drawings and specifications
- Soliciting quotes from subcontractors and suppliers, estimate to be 95% complete prior to formal review with Chief Estimator
- Preparing a rough schedule of project for determining the time frame
- Preparing competitive job estimates by interpreting drawings and bid documents and performing takeoffs for labor, equipment, and materials
- Reviewing estimated productions with superintendents to finalize the bid
- Other duties as assigned per project
- High School Diploma, or equivalent
- Experience in bridge and/or heavy highway construction estimating i.e. bridges, culverts road reconstruction, retaining walls, site work, underground utilities, excavation and earth moving
- PennDOT and/or ODOT experience preferred
- A record of successfully estimating bridge/heavy civil construction projects.
- Have a working knowledge of means and methods, crew composition, and production rates for concrete and steel bridge construction is preferred.
- Proficiency in estimating software system
- High energy, able to sustain occasional long hours
