    Kidstretch is seeking a Preschool Teacher to work full time in our state-licensed program, Kidstretch is owned and operated by Homestretch, a non-profit organization in Falls Church.

    Our ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or related field and at least 2 years of experience teaching in an early childhood setting.

    The Preschool Teacher is responsible for the care and education of 3- to 5-year-olds in our Virginia Preschool Initiative (VPI) classroom. The candidate should excel at establishing positive and productive relationships with children and their families. While the schedule may vary, typical hours are 9:15am to 5:45pm Monday through Friday.

    Responsibilities:

    • Co-teach children 3-5 years old in a play-based environment with low teacher-student ratios following the Creative Curriculum for Preschool.
    • Create daily lesson plans that will encourage each child's individual growth in the areas of intellectual, emotional, physical, and social development.
    • Supervise children through the daily routine and always monitor their safety.
    • Support children as they make their own choices regarding play.
    • Document observations of children for assessment and enter data into Teaching Strategies GOLD.
    • Maintain clean and organized learning environment in the classroom, which includes light cleaning duties.
    • Be responsible for opening or closing the center as needed.
    • Establish and maintain positive relationships with co-teachers, students, and parents.
    • Provide parents with ongoing communication regarding their children's progress.
    • Engage in professional development activities to continuously update skills and adhere to training requirements of the Licensing Standards, VPI, and the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP).

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelors or Associates degree in Early Childhood Education preferred; Child Development Associate credential required
    • At least 2 years previous experience teaching in an early childhood setting
    • Comfortable using technology including Word/Excel, emails, apps, and our curriculum software
    • Positive and patient demeanor with others
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Willingness to obtain CPR/First Aid certification
