Wood is recruiting for an Instrument Designer in the oil and gas industry in Process & Chemicals or Offshore business unit in our Katy, TX, Park Ten office.
This is an entry level professional role, with huge growth potential.- Works under the close supervision of an experienced discipline Designer.
- Functions in a support role, providing drawing and deliverable development while assisting the discipline design team with accomplishing overall project objectives.
- Performs tasks with increasing competency by expanding knowledge and use of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria.
- Under close supervision, create CADD designs/drawings from Engineering and Design sketches, markups, gobys and verbal instruction.
- Coordinate with other discipline designers to ensure verbally received information is communicated and clearly understood
- Assist discipline designers in drawing and deliverable development of Control Schematics, Interconnect Wiring diagrams, Plans, Details, Cable Schedules, Loop Drawings and Various spreadsheets
- Assist discipline designers and assure drawings are compatible and aligned with project and client requirements
- Participate in all available technical training while continuously improving technical skill sets
- 2 year Associate's Degree Instrument Technology
- Entry level to 4 years industry experience
- Occasional field visits, climbing stairs, gathering information, measuring. Potential for visits to offshore sites via helicopter or boat
- Ability to work well with others in a team environment. Good communication skills both oral and written
- Become proficient with appropriate department software tools
- Build proficiency in drawing organization and production
- Become proficient with department design and drafting standards and procedures
- Strong ethical standards. High level of awareness and commitment to safety in all aspects of daily work.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Highly motivated and demonstrates personal initiative.
- Possesses integrity, strong work ethic, positive attitude, and is dependable.
- Accountable for results. Adaptable and flexible to the changing needs of projects.
- Team player that works well with supervisors, subordinates, peers and clients
