Law Firm End User Support - Contract to Hire
Morae Global Corporation seeks to find the best and the brightest people - those who understand what it takes to deliver top quality solutions for our clients.
We are currently seeking a highly motivated and experienced Paralegal/Legal Assistant to join our team at the Portland, ME US Attorney's Office.
Your responsibilities will include comprehensive support including legal memorandums, pleading, discovery, briefs, bankruptcy petitions, case management and other paralegal-based services.
Responsibilities
- Provide Apprentice examination of legal instruments
- Review legal instruments (completeness of information, proper execution)
- Provides direct support to Litigation Support Unit, attorneys and paralegals regarding functional and administrative duties as needed
- Determine correctness of action (per Government regulations, procedures, etc).
- Research records (to ascertain conditions that might preclude action)
- Assists with various tasks within the Litigation Support Unit on a daily basis to include the processing of data and evidence for cases and the completion of discovery productions
- Assist with the preparation of trial and hearing presentations and demonstratives
- Collects and compiles statistical data as necessary for various reports
Requirements:
- 2+ years of experience as a Paralegal or Legal Assistant in a law firm or government agency
- Twoyear undergraduate degree or equivalent
- U.S. Citizenship and a 7 year minimum background investigation
- Proficiency with numerous software and databases including, but not limited to, Microsoft Suite, Eclipse, Trial Director, Casemap and Quickbooks
- Excellent research and analytical skills, with the ability to quickly gather and synthesize information
- Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately proofread legal documents
- Knowledge of federal court procedures and familiarity with case management systems
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with attorneys, clients, and external parties
- Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
