As Vessel Engineer you will be responsible to ensure all vessel machinery, equipment and systems are run, maintained and repaired in a safe and effective way.
You are responsible for:
Maintainingall machinery,equipmentand systems, including main propulsion, auxiliary power generation, ancillary, deck and cargohandling.
Ensuring proper operations of control, monitoring, and alarm components and systemsall whilemaintaininga safe work environment on the vessel.
Implementing company policies and procedures, and general maritime industry standards wherever applicable.
Checking and maintaining fuel/fluid levels in all tanks within the vessel, taking monthly oil samples for analysis and is responsible for vessel bunkering operations, as well as, following established fueling procedures, maintaining adequate inventory levels of critical spares and general vessel parts.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Minimum of a 4000 DDElicensepreferred.
Valid USCG Merchant Mariner Credentialrequired/PICandHAZWOPERpreferred.
Valid Transportation Worker Identification Card (TWIC).
Valid driver's license.
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Must be eligible to work in the United States.
Experience and Skills:
Minimum of three years of previous experience during the last 15 years as a Marine Engineer (Preferably theleast three as a Chief Engineer).
Marine operations background and familiar with shipyards and tugs(preferred).
Extensive knowledge of Maritime law and current updates.
Skilled with equipment best suited to handle the job at hand.
Working conditions:
Lodging and provisions on the vessel.
Must bephysicallyfittoclimb aboard tugs and barges, ascend and descend ladders and balance while aboard vessels in aseaway; kneel,stoop, use stairs, reach overhead, and stand forlong periods.
Must be able to work 12 hours a day every day.
Exposure toallweather conditions(rain, ice, snow, heat,wind, etc.).
Year-round work, typical shift is two weeks on/off.
