SUMMARY:

The Maintenance Technician is accountable for the upkeep and proper functionality of all production and facility equipment. This includes repairing, rebuilding, and replacing production equipment or any facility equipment as needed.


Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, maintain and repair machinery and mechanical equipment including motors, gearboxes, controls, PLC's, and hydraulic/pneumatic components
  • Utilize diagrams, schematics, sketches, operation manuals and manufacturer's specifications in order to maintain and properly repair equipment as needed
  • Identify ways to improve our maintenance program through continuous improvement techniques, technology and knowledge sharing
  • Provides scheduled & unscheduled maintenance repairs to all production equipment during normal production hours.
  • Performs duties including, but not limited to mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic troubleshooting and repair of machines
  • Responsible for maintaining and performing repairs to the facility
  • Perform general carpentry, electrical and plumbing tasks as needed.
  • Construct or assemble furniture, partitions, etc. as needed. Performs simple carpentry tasks such as installing shelves, hooks or etc.
  • Replace bulbs, lighting and plumbing fixtures, building hardware, etc. as needed.
  • Touchup and maintain appearance of paint, woodwork and flooring as needed and coordinate with outside Contractors when necessary.
  • Wears protective equipment as necessary.
  • Maintain power and hand tools in working order.
  • Recommends new and/or replacement purchases of equipment as required.
  • Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned

Basic Requirements
Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with employees, supervisors, etc.

  • Requires physical ability to climb stairs, bend, sit, stand, walk, reach with arms, push, pull and use hands and fingers to feel and handle material for extended time frames
  • Must have ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds repeatedly and regularly. Includes the ability to stoop, squat, crawl and kneel as needed

Qualifications:

Language Ability:

Ability to read a limited number of two and three syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series numbers, preferred.

Ability to print and speak simple sentences, preferred.

Math Ability:
A minimum ability to add and subtract two digit numbers.


Education/Experience:

  • The ability to read electrical schematics and vocational maintenance training certificate preferred
  • Experience troubleshooting issues with bearings, chains, sprockets, gearboxes and conveyors
  • Experience troubleshooting and repairing hydraulics and pneumatics
  • Requires basic knowledge of computers and operating systems
  • Requires strong problemsolving skills to assess product output relative to specifications
  • Must have ability to multitask and to identify and execute process improvements as needed
