Overview

  • Axle is seeking a highly ambitious, adaptable, structured, and detailoriented
    Biologist to join our vibrant team at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), Division of Intramural Research (DIR) / Laboratory of Parasitic Diseases (LPD).

Technical Requirements:


  • Perform a wide variety of procedures and techniques which may include, but are not limited to: DNA analysis, DNA isolation, DNA purification, DNA sequencing, RNA isolation, PCR and NGS etc.
  • Perform lab work within a BSL2+ environment
  • Maintain accurate daily records of experiments and results
  • Write reports of findings, state methods and procedures, including any modifications employed, specimens and materials involved, and results of experiments
  • Assist with collecting and organizing the results of each experiment with the Federal Task Leader as part of the planning process for subsequent studies, and present these findings to the FTL and other members of the lab
  • Assist in maintaining laboratory supplies and equipment, and in managing biological materials
  • Assist with laboratory upkeep and routine maintenance of equipment, such as ordering lab supplies and materials

Specific Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • Minimum of two (2) years of related work experience in a laboratory setting
  • Ability to effectively work independently and with others
  • Good communication skills and writing skills are highly desired
