Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Duties:
- Escort patients to examination rooms and prepare them for medical procedures.
- Record patient vital signs, such as blood pressure, pulse rate, temperature, and weight.
- Assist healthcare providers during medical examinations and procedures.
- Prepare and maintain medical equipment and supplies for use in patient care.
- Provide patient education on medication, treatments, and selfcare instructions.
Administrative Duties:
- Greet patients and check them in for appointments.
- Schedule patient appointments and manage healthcare provider's calendar.
- Answer phone calls, take messages, and respond to inquiries from patients and other healthcare professionals.
- Maintain patient medical records and ensure accuracy and confidentiality of information.
- Process insurance forms, billing, and medical claims.
- Coordinate referrals to specialists and other healthcare facilities.
- Order and stock medical and office supplies.
- Perform general administrative tasks, such as filing, faxing, and scanning documents.
Communication and Teamwork:
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive patient care.
- Relay important patient information and updates to healthcare providers in a timely manner.
- Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and quality improvement initiatives.
Compliance and Safety:
- Adhere to healthcare regulations, policies, and procedures, including HIPAA regulations.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of medical examination rooms and common areas.
- Follow infection control protocols and maintain a safe environment for patients and staff.
- Participate in training programs and stay uptodate on medical assistant best practices and guidelines.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; completion of a medical assistant training program preferred.
- Certification as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) preferred.
- Basic understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
- Proficiency in computer skills, including electronic health records (EHR) systems and medical billing software.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with patients and healthcare team members.
- Attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to multitask in a fastpaced environment.
- Compassion, empathy, and commitment to providing highquality patient care.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, walk, and move around for extended periods.
- Manual dexterity and ability to perform tasks that require reaching, bending, stooping, and lifting.
- Ability to lift and carry medical equipment and supplies weighing up to 20 pounds.
- Visual and auditory acuity to accurately assess patient conditions and operate medical equipment.
