Water Safety Instructors - Part Time, Flexible Schedule**
Westwood Recreation Department

_Responsibilities and duties include the following_:

  • Prepares, plans and implements all aspects of the American Red Cross Programs and presentations as detailed in the American Red Cross Swimming and Water Safety manual.
  • Plans, prepares and conducts effective and safe swim lessons.
  • Implements emergency protocols as the situation dictates.
  • Upholds and enforces facility rules and regulations.
  • Evaluates participants and recommends placement for future classes.
  • Completes course reports and documentation.
  • Ensures the safety of participants and monitors swimming activity to prevent accidents.
  • Performs other related work as required.

_Qualifications and experience:
_ Must be at least 16 years of age. Prior experience working with children in a group setting desired. Effective interpersonal and communication skills and ability to react quickly and calmly in various situations are essential.


_Special Requirements/Certifications Needed:

_ Current American Red Cross Lifeguard certification to include CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer and First Aid certification, and Water Safety Instructor Certification required.


_Salary:
_ This is a part-time, non-benefit position with a starting rate of $18.50 per hour.


_Schedule:
_ Flexible hours including week nights and weekend shifts. Will partner with you to create a cooperative work schedule.
