Gen Re currently offers an excellent opportunity for a Senior Reinsurance Contracts Specialist in our Stamford, CT office under a
hybrid in-office/work from home schedule, or performed remotely with
periodic trips to the Stamford office for an appropriately qualified individual.
Role DescriptionPrimary ResponsibilitiesThe Senior Reinsurance
Contracts Specialist reviews a wide array of market-produced reinsurance
contracts against corporate standards and agreed-upon terms. Contracts span various lines (property,
casualty, specialty) and structures (excess of loss, quota share, aggregate,
per risk, per occurrence, per policy). The Senior Reinsurance Contracts Specialist analyzes both general
clauses and business-specific contract provisions, identifies wording that is
contrary to standards or terms, and suggests alternative wording as appropriate. Additionally, the Senior Reinsurance Contracts
Specialist drafts reinsurance contracts and endorsements based on corporate
standard wordings, client clauses, and agreed terms. The drafting function involves many lines of
business and structures, as well as continuous and term contracts. The Senior Reinsurance Contracts
Specialist may be tasked with leading special projects, including developing
position papers, updating contract templates, or crafting suggested policy
wording to address emerging issues. The
Senior Reinsurance Contracts Specialist may also be called upon to review
client policy forms and endorsements.
The Senior Reinsurance
Contracts Specialist is viewed as a mentor on contract wording issues
throughout the Gen Re organization, providing guidance to Underwriters,
Marketers and others involved in contract wording discussions.

Additional ResponsibilitiesKeep current on reinsurance contract/policy wording developments and communicate importance and impact of wording changes to Underwriters and Marketers.

Continually develop specialized knowledge of particular lines of business in order to identify wording solutions that pertain to that business segment.

Collaborate with other Contracts Specialists, Underwriters, and Claims and Legal colleagues to improve wordings.
Continually develop specialized knowledge of reinsurance contract structures or features to address business needs. Set challenging goals and work to meet them.
Effectively manage time and meet deadlines.
Role Qualifications and ExperienceCollege degree required. CPCU designation, ARe designation, JD degree a plus.

At least ten years of experience in a Contracts Specialist or similar position, or an Underwriting/Claims role with a strong coverage and wording focus.

Extensive knowledge of reinsurance and primary insurance standards, practices and principles.
Strong knowledge of general contract clauses, contract features for specific lines of business, and primary policy forms.
Excellent analytical and communication skills.
Very high attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to work independently and collaborate with colleagues within and across departments.
Excellent Word skills; proficient in technology.
Strong time management skills.

annual base salary range posted represents a broad range of salaries around the
U.S. and is subject to many factors including but not limited to credentials,
education, experience, geographic location, job responsibilities, performance,
skills and/or training.
