Schedule:
M-F 8am to 4pm


PRIMARY FUNCTION:

The Behavior Analyst (BCBA) provides behavioral support oversight to an assigned Preschool Early Intervention (EI) region, which includes children in community-based locations and center-based program(s).

The BCBA works in partnership with regional staff to implement evidenced-based positive behavior support strategies, including, but not limited to completing Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBAs) and Positive Behavior Support Plans (PBSPs).

The BA provides guidance and support to Multidisciplinary Evaluation (MDE) Teams and Individualized Education Plan (IEP) Teams, community-based locations, and Early Learning Services (ELS) staff.

The BA maintains oversight of children for whom behavior impedes learning and ensures a tiered approach to intervention.


DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct observations of children in the natural environment to determine the function of a child's behavior, determines the appropriate course if intervention for the presenting child, identifies sensory needs, social deficits, emotional regulation needs, communication challenges and/or avoidance behavior in preschool children
  • Work collaboratively with MDE teams and IEP teams to make recommendations for least restrictive strategies and services, consistent with Positive Behavior Supports (PBS) regulation regarding behaviorrelated concerns; teach strategies for working with identified children to ensure they are able to participate in their curriculum/program to the maximum extent possible and model interventions that are specific to the child's needs to those adults working directly with the child including, but not limited to, Personal Care Assistants (PCAs), Behavior Specialists, Applied Behavior Analyst staff, teachers, parents, and other IEP team members
  • Administers child assessments including but not limited to Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBAs), the Devereaux Early Childhood Assessment (DECA-C), and Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE) scores to determine the nature of the behavior using a trauma informed lens
  • Write and complete comprehensive Positive Behavior Support Plans (PBSPs) for children recommended for behavioral assessment, develop PBSPs that include replacement behaviors, antecedent controls, and consequence strategies for each child as appropriate, and hypothesize the function of behavior through direct and indirect observation, and review completed FBA's and PBSP's from outside providers for fidelity and validity, provide consultation and feedback as needed
  • Coordinate meetings with program leaders and regional staff (as needed) to review data collection, implementation of strategies, and fidelity checklists, when applicable, supervise the implementation of PBSP's by reviewing files, observing implementation, and providing feedback to ensure that behavior management strategies are widely understood, case exemplars.[ are reviewed, and appropriate IEPs are being developed for children requiring this level of support
  • Work collaboratively with the School Psychologist to develop and provide training sessions on positive behavior supports for families, caregivers, community, and center service providers and/or their staff to help build confidence and competence amongst adult learners to drive positive outcomes for children
  • Develop and maintain an internal resource of strategies for addressing challenging behaviors which are evidence based and utilize best practice standards to ensure consistency across regions and maintain alignment with current research
  • Perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), safety care, and first aid using agencytrained protocols
  • Refer families in assigned region to behavioral health services or additional resources, as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) Certification
  • Three (3) years' experience in early intervention, early childhood programming, special education, behavioral health, or other social service ABA (Applied Behavioral Analysis)
  • Demonstrated experience completing FBA's, PBSP's, data collection, data analysis, and progress monitoring
  • Experience with writing IEP goals, strategies, and measurements; experience working with an IEP team and implementing plans preferred
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and Pennsylvania Chapter 14 Regulations preferred
  • Ability to work in a fastpaced environment and manage and prioritize multiple, often competing, priorities
  • Demonstrated strong attention to detail
  • Demonstrated strong time management and organizational skil
