    RF Systems Engineer - West Chester, United States - The Custom Group of Companies

    Description
    Primary Function: As an RF Systems Design Engineer, you'll play a pivotal role in pushing the boundaries of technology and performance. You'll design, analyze, document, and verify RF systems, circuits, modules, and components, including power amplifiers, LNAs, oscillators, PLLs, and filters.

    Essential Functions/Responsibilities:
    • Analog RF Circuit and System Design: Create both schematic and layout designs for analog RF circuits and systems.
    • Integration: Integrate necessary analog and digital interfaces or controls.
    • Manufacturing and Reliability: Design for manufacturing, EMI/EMC compliance, reliability, and thermal performance.
    • Collaboration: Interface with PCB designers to ensure superior RF performance of layouts.
    • Performance Validation: Develop methodologies for performance validation and characterize total performance to failure.
    • Teamwork: Function effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary design team.
    • Testing and Validation: Debug, test, and validate hardware in various settings (lab, manufacturing, customer premises).
    • Sales Support: Support sales and marketing by driving proposals and articulating product value to customers.
    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
    • Experience in RF filter and amplifier design, including supporting circuitry, impedance matching, and performance evaluation.
    • Proficiency in using AWR RF simulation software or similar tools.
    • Familiarity with mixed-signal PCB layout and PCB design software.
    • Leadership abilities to lead and drive teams.
    • System-level thinking to perform trades between modules/functions.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Effective collaboration with other departments (manufacturing, planning, engineering, and management).
    • Comfort with both design work at a desk and hands-on testing in the lab.
    • Problem-solving skills at all levels of design (schematic, layout, module assembly, system, and production).
    • Understanding of software, firmware, and state machines to evaluate, modify, or fix existing designs and processes.
    • Effective communication with internal and external customers.
    Education and/or Experience:
    • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) from an ABET-accredited college or university with 5+ years of relevant experience, or
    • Accredited Master's degree in Electrical Engineering (MSEE) with 2+ years of relevant experience.
    • Experience with RF modeling and simulation is required.
    • Familiarity with military standards and specifications is highly desired.
    • Occasional travel may be required.
