- Collaborate with teaching staff in developing a variety of assistive technology strategies to meet the educational needs of students within the classroom; determines which assistive technology devices an individual student needs to access in order to participate in school activities and interact within the community.
- Develop individual student assistive technology IEP goals and objectives.
- Perform assistive technology evaluations for student as referred by members of the educational team.
- Manage AT lab schedule and materials for student use; create activities on Intellitools classroom suite per theme for each house.
- Attend IEP meetings and staffing to represent assistive technology; research, recommend, and order devices or software for student use.
- Completion of bachelor's degree program from an accredited university in special education, speech or occupational therapy; certification in assistive technology required.
- Considerable knowledge and understanding of assistive technology including adaptive computer software and hardware such as voice output devices and adaptive equipment.
- Knowledge of disabilities and the impact on function in school performance.
- Considerable skill in how to train students to use voice output devices and assistive technology including hardware and software packages.
