Description
Position Overview:
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Engineering and Facilities to oversee our 503A compounding facility in Houston, Texas. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and managing all aspects of engineering, maintenance, and facilities operations to ensure the safety, efficiency, and compliance of our production facility. This role will also involve providing minimal supervision of our 503B facility as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Leadership and Management:
• Provide strategic leadership and direction to the engineering and facilities teams.
• Mentor, coach, and develop a high-performing team of engineers, maintenance technicians, and facilities staff.
• Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement within the department.
2. Facilities Operations:
• Oversee the day-to-day operations of the 503A compounding facility, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and company standards.
• Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs to optimize equipment reliability and minimize downtime.
• Coordinate with internal stakeholders to prioritize and schedule facility maintenance and repair activities.
• Manage vendor relationships and contracts for facility-related services and supplies.
3. Engineering and Technical Support:
• Lead engineering projects aimed at improving facility efficiency, productivity, and safety.
• Provide technical expertise and support for equipment installation, validation, and troubleshooting.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement process improvements and automation solutions.
4. Regulatory Compliance:
• Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, including FDA, cGMP, and state pharmacy board requirements.
• Develop and maintain documentation related to facility operations, maintenance, and regulatory inspections.
• Implement corrective actions and process improvements in response to audit findings and regulatory requirements.
5. Budget and Resource Management:
• Develop and manage departmental budgets, ensuring cost-effective utilization of resources.
• Identify opportunities for cost savings and operational efficiencies while maintaining high-quality standards.
• Procure necessary equipment, tools, and supplies to support facility operations and maintenance activities.
6. Safety and Risk Management:
• Promote a culture of safety and compliance within the facility, emphasizing the importance of adherence to safety protocols and procedures.
• Conduct regular safety inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and mitigate risks.
• Implement and monitor environmental, health, and safety programs to ensure regulatory compliance and employee well-being.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
• Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in engineering, facilities management, or related field, with at least 3-5 years in a leadership role.
• Experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing, compounding pharmacy, or healthcare industry preferred.
• Strong knowledge of FDA regulations, cGMP guidelines, and industry best practices.
• Proven track record of leading and managing multidisciplinary teams in a fast paced environment.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
• Ability to prioritize tasks, manage competing priorities, and drive results.
• Proficiency in project management, budgeting, and resource allocation.
• Familiarity with building automation systems, HVAC, utilities, and other facility related systems.
• Professional certifications such as P.E., CFM, or CHFM are a plus.
