The Baler Operator will safely operate and maintain machinery used in the process of baling materials while ensuring the clean appearance of the work area.
Key Responsibilities:
- Remove finished bales from baler, weigh and properly place in finished goods inventory area
- Perform maintenance and repair on baler, shredder and conveyor when necessary
- Maintain weekly maintenance records of machinery
- Maintain a neat and orderly unfinished inventory area by properly stacking empty gaylords and picking up debris off the floor
- Operate all machinery in safe and efficient manner. Ensure that all safety equipment and gear is functional and properly used
- Support warehouse personnel on projects when directed by management
- Conform in all respects with applicable federal, state/provincial and local laws, regulations, ordinances and other orders and to all company policies, procedures and directives from supervisors
- Perform other jobrelated duties as assigned
Requirements:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Must have forklift operator training.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, instructions and procedure manuals.
- Ability to communicate effectively with others
Physical/Mental Demands:
- Ability to stand, sit, walk, use hands and fingers, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk, hear, climb and balance
- Visual Requirements: include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- Possess ability to regularly lift/move up to 40 pounds and frequently lift/move up to 50 pounds.
- Possess ability to move up to 300 pounds.
Working Conditions:
- Noise level is usually moderate to loud.
- Occasionally exposed to loud noise, humidity, rainy/stormy, hot and cold weather conditions, moving mechanical parts, vibration, toxic and caustic chemicals, fumes and airborne particles
- Occasionally work in high precarious places.
