What You'll Do:


As a
Dining Services Manager you will carry out our Mission of Love by managing and coordinating the activities of the facility Dining Rooms and assisting in special functions.

Functions as a member of the Food Services team to develop strategies for effectiveness and continuity of services offered to residents.

This position is responsible for oversight of the work of the Dietary Manager, Personal Care Servers and Dietary Workers.

Our Dining Services Manager is responsible for the following:

  • Develops written objectives, short and long-term goals for the Health Care and Personal Care Dining Rooms to provide high quality service to the Masonic Village residents.
  • Develop and evaluate regular and therapeutic diets under the guidance of the Registered Dietitian (who is responsible to ensure nutritional adequacy).
  • Develop and implement person centered education regarding food and nutrition for all facility staff.
  • Assumes opening and closing responsibilities for the Food Services Department as assigned.
  • Establishes and maintains effective communications and working relationship within the department and with other departments to provide a high quality, unified, costeffective operation.
  • Oversees budget and purchasing of supplies.
  • Establishes and arranges work schedules and assign duties, responsible for scheduling and processing biweekly payroll.
  • Oversee food preparation, service, and storage of food.
  • Directs the setup of tables and the serving of food for meal service in both dining areas. Plans and assigns duties for special "theme" meals and functions/banquets.
  • Monitors temperature of food and equipment and takes corrective action for noncompliance. Performs meal rounds and test trays according to established schedule. Inspects the dining rooms and equipment for cleanliness and keeps all equipment in good repair; takes corrective action for noncompliance. Establishes master cleaning schedules to ensure cleanliness and organization. Responsible for ensuring proper completion of these schedules.
  • Participate in QAPI when food and nutrition is involved.
  • Orients and trains new employees and instruct them in work procedures.
  • Manages and controls resources and materials to ensure quality, adequacy and condition of supply.

Resources and materials include, but not limited to:

Resident Menu (Week-at-a-Glance and Daily Menus); small wares, cleaning supplies, tablecloths and cloth napkins, dining room equipment and resident satisfaction survey.


  • Establishes and maintains effective communication with residents to discuss individual dietary needs and changes. Monitors and follows up with residents who are on therapeutic diets, working with the Dietician on making proper recommendation to the resident on residents' dietary needs.
  • Directs and supports Assistant Dietary Manager's completion of assignments and responsibilities.
  • Evaluates employee work performance and recommends personnel actions such as commendations or disciplinary action to the Director of Food Services.
  • Oversees the distribution and retrieval of resident menus. Ensures their completion and oversees the calculation of selections. Maintains records of meals served, month end reports and meal comments.
