Position Summary:
This position's primary duties will include providing remote or face-to-face coaching to Early Learning Programs (ELPs)
Additional duties include:
guiding, advising, and supporting ELPs in attaining or maintaining Texas Rising Star certification.
The Texas Rising Star Mentor II will assist early learning programs to improve their practice and achieve progressively higher levels of quality.
Texas Rising Star mentors also provide ongoing professional development and assist early learning programs in accessing resources and materials.This position is responsible for coordinating and implementing all Texas Rising Star-related activities associated with the Child Care Services (CCS) Program in the 13-county Houston-Galveston region.
Position Key Accountabilities:
- Provides coaching designed to support continuous quality improvement for Child Care Services (CCS) Providers and Texas Rising Star Certified early learning programs. Provides facetoface and/or remote coaching to classroom teachers and administrators as scheduled and required, and uses a variety of Texas Rising Star mentoring strategies.
- Partners with providers to develop and implement Texas Rising Star Continuous Quality Improvement Plans (CQIPs).
- Provides a variety of professional development experiences to support continuous quality improvement among ELPs.
- Collaborate and support administrators, teachers, and others to complete and interpret child data to support growth and development and to improve instructional practices. Collaborates with teachers to develop lesson plans and daily schedules that are developmentally appropriate and aligned with Texas' Early Learning Guidelines (e.g. ITELGs and PreK Guidelines)
- Supports administrators, teachers, and others in understanding the Texas Rising Star standards and policies, and the opportunities provided by the Gulf Coast Early Education Services team.
- Gulf Coast Workforce Board mentors must attain and maintain the Texas Rising Star Assessor Certification. as described in the Texas Rising Star Guidelines. Once certified in the assessment criteria the Gulf Coast Workforce Board mentors must participate in weekly coding calls and must demonstrate their ongoing mastery of the criteria and their ability to reliably understand the criteria through participation in quarterly checks.
- Maintains effective and timely written and oral communications with all stakeholders.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Certification/Skills:
Basic knowledge of standard Office Software such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook is required.
Texas Rising Star staff members are required to complete annual professional development and continuing education consistent with the Texas Rising Star annual minimum training hours required for a Texas Rising Star-certified child care center director.
Minimum Education:
Bachelor's degree in related field is required. Master's degree preferred.
Minimum Experience:
Five (5) years experience in teaching or related field.
Physical Requirements:
Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.
