    Description


    RK&K is currently hiring an experienced Project Engineer with experience in Heavy Civil/Highway construction project administration and management to join our team in Georgia.

    As a Project Engineer at RK&K you will manage complex bridge, urban, or interstate reconstruction projects and strengthen our CEI teams in north Georgia.

    Must have experience leading construction management teams of inspectors and administrative staff on GDOT projects. Ideally, this person can be in the North/Central portion of the State.


    Essential Functions:
    Management and administration of heavy civil, highway and structures projects including leading teams of Junior Project Engineers, Office Managers, Senior Inspectors, Inspectors, CPM Reviewers, and administrative staff on projectsResponsibilities include the review of monthly estimates, final estimates, change orders/supplemental agreements, and claimsFacilitating preconstruction meetings, progress meetings, and pre-activity meetingsResponding to questions which may arise in the field during construction and working to determine the appropriate solutionVisiting construction sites to monitor project progress and adherence to plans and specificationsManaging project inspection staff and ensuring their training and equipment needs are metParticipating in plan reviews, project scoping meetings, and staffing projectionsInteracting with clients and participating in project interviews, when necessaryMiscellaneous support activities, as necessaryMust possess high integrity and ethics in all aspects of dealing with clients, subconsultants, and peers

    Required Skills, Education, and Experience:
    Ten years of experience in roadway and structures constructionFive (5) + years of experience managing construction projects in GeorgiaAdvanced working knowledge of the principles and practices of civil engineering and construction methods, materials, and equipmentWorking knowledge of GDOT manuals, policies and procedures, include the Construction ManualAbility to understand, explain, and administer contracts; and interpret construction plans, provisions, standards, and specificationsAbility to train, coordinate, and supervise inspection technicians in the fieldUnderstanding of QA/QC development and execution processTravel between job sites is expected, clean driving record

    Preferred Skills, Education, and Experience:

    Professional Engineer or Certified Construction ManagerBachelors in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related fieldGDOT Worksite Erosion Control Supervisor (WECS)GDOT Field Concrete Technician Certification.

    GSWCC Level 1APrevious experience with GDOT, especially as Project EngineerPrevious experience with GDOT Districts 1 and 2
