Job Description:

Duties and Responsibilities:

Specimen Collection:
Perform specimen collection procedures according to established protocols and guidelines. This may involve collecting various types of specimens such as nasopharyngeal swabs, saliva samples, or urine specimens.

Patient Interaction:

Interact with patients in a professional and compassionate manner, explaining the specimen collection process and addressing any concerns or questions they may have.

Labeling and Documentation:

Accurately label specimens with patient information and ensure proper documentation of collected specimens, including relevant clinical information and testing requisition forms.

Sample Handling and Transport:

Ensure proper handling and transportation of specimens to the laboratory, adhering to safety protocols and maintaining sample integrity during transit.

Quality Control:

Perform quality control checks to verify specimen identification and integrity, reporting any discrepancies or issues to supervisory staff promptly.

Inventory Management:
Monitor inventory levels of collection supplies and ensure adequate stock is maintained to support testing operations.

Compliance:
Adhere to all relevant regulatory requirements and safety protocols governing specimen collection and handling, including HIPAA regulations.

Collaboration:

Work closely with laboratory technicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate specimen collection activities and ensure efficient workflow.

Data Entry:
Enter specimen and patient information accurately into laboratory information systems or electronic medical records.

Professional Development:

Stay informed about advancements in specimen collection techniques, safety protocols, and testing procedures through ongoing training and professional development activities.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent required; additional certification in phlebotomy or medical assisting preferred.
Prior experience in specimen collection or healthcare setting preferred.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fastpaced environment.
Familiarity with medical terminology and basic laboratory procedures.
Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and privacy.

Pay:
$ $19.00 per hour
