MIDDLE SCHOOL ATHLETIC COORDINATOR
West Middle School

  • Salary Range: EDUSTAFF or PPS Schedule C
  • Starting Date: Fall 2024

Job Summary:


Under the direction of the Middle School Principal, the Athletic Coordinator acts as the school representative for inter-scholastic and intramural athletic activities.

Athletic Cooridnator duties are in addition to teacher or PPS Support Staff activities.


Responsibilities:


  • Strong leadership skills that include thorough knowledge and background experience in athletics
  • Ability to manage the athletic budget and attend all home contests
  • Schedules athletic contests, game officials and transportation
  • Assist with annual evaluation of coaches
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Regular and consistent attendance.
  • Must have knowledge of and comply with the policies and procedures contained in the Portage Public Schools Employee Handbook.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Education.
  • Previous experience in athletics or coaching
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with district staff and the public.
  • Ability to assume responsibility, display initiative, and exercise good judgment.
  • Proficient computer and document skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Desire to serve others.
  • High moral character.
  • Ability to understand and follow policies (WMS, PPS, MHSAA).
  • Must undergo a background check and fingerprinting.
