  • The OB/GYN Department at Yale Health provides comprehensive women's health services to the University's faculty, students, staff and their dependents. Our OB practice covers nearly 400 deliveries per year at Yale New Haven Hospital. We provide patientcentered, culturally sensitive care to a diverse membership. Our goal is improving the health and wellbeing of the entire Yale community. Yale Health has been continuously accredited by the Joint Commission since 2005. We are currently seeking an experienced medical assistant to join the Ob/Gyn team.
  • Our stateoftheart facility at 55 Lock Street, built in 2010, is where our members receive most of their care. It is a 144,000 squarefoot medical facility with over 90 exam rooms; an Acute Care Department staffed by a physician and registered nurses; a 15bed inpatient facility; a diagnostic imaging suite including MRI, CT scan, xray, and ultrasound; and a fullservice retail pharmacy. It houses our 150+ providers, including 111 primary and consulting physicians.
  • As a member of the OB/GYN Team at Yale Health, the Medical Assistant will provide care to patients as part of a collaborative and supportive team in a clinical setting. They will prepare patients for examinations, provide routine information related to medical treatments and procedures, measure and record vital signs, collect and label specimens, perform all CLIAwaived/POCT testing; assist clinical staff with procedures, treatments and exams. Act as a Chaperone for sensitive exams. Maintain exam rooms, procedure rooms and clinical areas. Retrieve, process and document activities related to lab and diagnostic test results; and perform clerical functions which may include telephone reception. Assist patients with personal hygiene, nutrition, comfort and safety. Maintain a comfortable, orderly, safe and clean environment. Provide assistance to clinical staff with all procedures, treatments and exams. Prepare in advance, medical records for clinician appointments.
  • Work with Clinical Manager to assist with patient flow, troubleshoot problems as they occur with clinic equipment, monitor inventory, order supplies, stock and equipment. Acts as a contact with vendors to ensure adequate par levels/inventory is maintained in anticipation of clinic needs. Participate in the coordination of daily assignments to provide clinician support. Implement changes to support the primary mission of providing care to our members and improvement to clinic operations. Acts as a liaison to medical assistant community programs, serve on various committees and may also serve as a preceptor.
  • Selects, set up and maintain medical supplies and equipment. Ensures equipment is maintained and in compliance with State and JCAHO requirements for monthly room checks. Provides assistance to clinicians for ancillary support requests and coordination of patient care issues within Yale Health and with preferred providers and vendors. Serves as a resource for clinical staff in order to facilitate complex and challenging patient care issues/needs. Escalates issues to appropriate members of the healthcare team as indicated.
  • Ensures biohazardous waste is processed and stored correctly. Assists in Quality Assurance measures for the department. Ensures that up to date records and logs are maintained in accordance with policies and procedures as well as JCAHO requirements. Develops and implements process improvements as appropriate. Perform additional duties as determined by the department manager to maintain efficient workflow.
