Summary:

The Manufacturing Technician 2 is responsible for producing products and general cleaning and upkeep of facility utilizing various types of processes and equipment all while adhering to Good Documentation Practices (GDPs) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Operates equipment in accordance with established procedures.
  • Communicates issues related to equipment functionality or performance to a Lead, Supervisor or Manager.
  • Cleans and assembles equipment and production areas in accordance with established procedures.
  • Proficient knowledge of equipment that enables employee to troubleshoot basic issues with equipment such as setup related issues.
  • Basic knowledge of processes to enable employee to perform routine tasks and functions.
  • Performs daily tasks and functions to meet Manufacturing goals.
  • Tracks metrics, output and downtime using the appropriate trackers or output sheets.
  • Reports output and communicates issues to Lead, Supervisor or Manager.
  • Inspects quality of the product during manufacturing processes.
  • Follows Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) including use of required gowning supplies (lab coats, gloves, hair covers, face mask).
  • Communicates product quality issues to a Lead, Supervisor or Manager.
  • Follows Good Documentation Practices (GDPs) to ensure that data recorded on documents is legible, accurate and timely. This includes verification of calculations and accurate times recorded for timed activities.
  • Follows safety policies by using lockout/ tag out when setting up and cleaning equipment.
  • Uses required personal protective equipment (i.e. safety gloves, safety aprons, face shield) during cleaning and manufacturing processes.
  • Maintains facility and work areas in clean and organized conditions. Cleans the facility and equipment in accordance with established schedules and procedures.
  • Completes training tasks on time per the training program.
  • Performs tasks and manufacturing activities as per established procedures.
  • Conducts facility cleaning outside of regular Manufacturing areas.
  • Assists other areas within the organization as needed.
  • Cross-Training in other areas of Manufacturing as needed to meet organizational needs.
  • Assist in product destruction.
  • Employee is aware of and follows time keeping and rest period policies. Employee files for time off in timely manner as described in associated policies.
  • May be required to perform other duties as assigned or as needed.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.


Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three years' experience safely operating Manufacturing machines in an FDA compliant manufacturing environment; or equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education.
  • Experience in compounding, and/or experience in an industrial environment requiring the use of weights and volumetric measurements strongly desired.
  • Experience in use of liquid mixers, homogenizers, milling equipment, scales and pumps for liquid transfer.
  • Prior experience in other departments within this company a strong plus. Prior work in GMP facility a plus.
  • Experience in a pharmaceutical or food cGMP compliant work environment preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Assist in training of other Manufacturing staff in accordance with manager/supervisor/lead's guidelines.
  • Ability to perform setups and changeovers of equipment.
  • Ability to troubleshoot equipment.
  • Maintains general work areas clean and organized. Adheres to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) while using the proper gowning procedures.

  • Ability to produce legible handwriting on documents while following Good Documentation Practices (GDPs).
  • Maintain a safe work environment and follow safety policies/best practices.
  • Ability to follow specific verbal directions from department personnel, leads and supervisors.
  • Ability to adhere to attendance and timekeeping policies.
  • Ability to read and perform basic math calculations. Working knowledge of metric system, scale procedures and liquid measure procedures.
