    GTG Peterbilt – Davenport is a family-owned full service Peterbilt truck dealership serving eastern Iowa since 1973. We have worked hard to provide the trucking industry with the highest quality products, sold and serviced by dedicated people to provide the highest return for our customers.

    We have an immediate opening for a Shop Foreman/Lead Service Advisor. Ideal candidates will have a minimum of 2 years of experience as a Foreman, Lead Mechanic, or Service Writer. A polished and professional appearance and excellent communication skills are essential. Must have a valid CDL (or willing to obtain CDL upon hire) with clean, insurable, driving record and be willing to work rotational Saturdays as scheduled.

    Requirements:
    • Greet customers in a professional and courteous manner when they enter the service department or over the telephone.
    • Discuss clearly needed repair work, estimates, and advise on any outstanding recalls or factory recommended preventative maintenance.
    • Maintain a working knowledge of the industry's current best practices in heavy duty repair.
    • Conduct extensive diagnostic procedures to determine the source of customer problems and provide accurate repair recommendations.
    • Inspect vehicles according to the state and federal requirements for emissions and safety.
    • Conduct necessary repairs and take vehicles for test drives to verify accuracy and completion.
    • Maintain legible and accurate paperwork for both the customer and shop record.
    • Clean and maintain the work environment to ensure equipment longevity and workplace safety.
    • Continual follow up with customers on status of repairs to assure that truck will be ready when promised.
    • Complete repair orders by asking good diagnostic questions to identify customer needs/concerns and record the information accurately.
    • Enter all incoming repair orders into scheduling system in the order in which they are received. Identify repair orders that require special handling, such as rush, customer waiting, special problem, comeback, etc.
    • Procure authorization from customer when estimate of costs needs to be changed.
    • Contact customer for approval if additional repairs or maintenance is needed and document approval
    • Follow up with customer after truck is repaired to assure expectations were met.
    • Manage stressful situations and challenges by using problem solving and customer service skills
    • Clearly communicate warranty information and policies to customers.
    • Keep service manager informed of all potential issues involving repairs, customers, or equipment.
    • Keep the service area clean, organized, and orderly.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • 3+ years of service technician experience
    • Computer proficient
    • Familiarity with terminology and service of heavy vehicles
    • Strong oral and written communications skills
    • Possess superior customer service skills
    • Ability to work with others in solving problems
    • Excellent organizational skills required

    EDUCATION:

    • High school diploma or GED preferred.
    • Combination of education, training, or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
