EchoStar has an exciting opportunity for an Entry Level Security Analyst in our Hughes Network Systems division remote SOC.


Responsibilities:

• Threat Detection
• Using the enterprise SIEM system as a primary tool, continuously monitor security alerts, logs, events, and information generated by security infrastructure including firewalls, intrusion prevention systems (IDS/IPS), network proxies, active directory, vulnerability scanners, and endpoint security solutions.

• Event Analysis

• Analyze and investigate any suspicious security events or network activity. Correlate Indicators of Compromise (IoCs) across various sources of data.

• Incident Response

• Triage alerts and determine necessary escalations to customers and next level SOC staff.

• Alert Tuning

• Take feedback from customers and Hughes SOC staff to refine the analysis and triage steps and reduce alerting on false positive events.

• Threat Prevention

• Assist with the administration and maintenance of security infrastructure including intrusion prevention systems (IDS/IPS), security scanners, the enterprise SIEM system, firewalls, and other security infrastructure.

• Security Recommendations

• Will use information and lessons learned from security and incident response activities to provide security recommendations to the IT Security Operations team such as recommendations for improvements to security infrastructure and/or capabilities.

Basic Requirements
- (preferred) Bachelors degree in a information systems, computer science, cyber security or related technical field (combination of education and experience)

• 6 months+ of recent experience in an IT related position (security analyst, security engineer, network engineer, systems engineer, systems administrator, etc.) that included cybersecurity experience and/or responsibilities.
• 6 months+ of experience working directly with TCP/IP networking, protocols, and services, configuring, troubleshooting and deploying TCP/IP based systems and services.
• 6 months+ of working directly with network traffic and packet analysis for the purposes of detecting and analyzing security intrusions, threats, and defensive network operations.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Recent experience in a position directly related to cybersecurity (security analyst, security engineer, network security engineer, security consultant, etc.).
• Recent experience with security analysis in one or more of the major cloud providers: Azure, AWS, GCP
• Recent experience in a position directly related to network traffic/packet analysis, intrusion detection, or incident response.
• Recent cybersecurity certification such as: CISSP, CEH, OSCP, Security+, or any of the SANS GIAC certifications.
• Functional knowledge of Linux operating systems.
• Functional knowledge of Windows operating systems including workstation, server, and Active Directory
• Good interpersonal skills and proven ability to work relatively independently.

Pay:
$ $21.50 per hour
