- The Quality Assurance Manager- Sanitation will develop, publish, maintain, and/or approve all Niagara Bottling cleaning and sanitation procedures, policies, records and standards for our bottled water and beverage production with a focus on aseptic operations.
- Primary focus of this position is to oversee the cleaning and sanitation practices and processes at Niagara's aseptic beverage operations by supporting the aseptic plant's sanitation teams.
- Establish minimum cleaning and sanitation standards for all bottling facilities. Create and maintain a dashboard monitoring CIP effectiveness.
- Support CIP system commissioning, verification and validation activates for CIP systems for all beverages.
- Determine the metrics needed to establish cleaning/sanitation frequencies.
- Establish the minimum equipment design for each bottling facility to ensure adequate cleaning and sanitation. Support Engineering with sanitation equipment specifications, sanitary process design and/or upgrades for new and existing facilities.
- Assist in troubleshooting and problem solving food safety and quality issues. Provide direction to all plants with product and/or process microbiological issues.
- Lead the Niagara Aseptic Sanitation conference calls.
- Oversee the Sanitation/CIP assessments for Niagara Bottling facilities that will accurately document the current Sanitation/CIP capabilities of each bottling facility (beverage and water). The assessment inspects/assess the CIP system, inspects/reviews the external plant cleaning/sanitation, verifies the cleaning procedures, inspects the system for any potential sources of contamination and conducts a micro/swab assessment to verify sanitation effectiveness.
- Establish approved chemicals for the Sanitation program. Determine/approve the primary chemical suppliers for Niagara Bottling. Work with Procurement as needed to establish chemical pricing. Work with each bottling facilities to establish the appropriate concentration/usage for all sanitation/cleaning chemicals. Provide oversight/guidance to ensure the chemical inventory management and maintenance at the plant level.
- Develop an ongoing Sanitation Training Program for CIP, COP, and External Cleaning/Sanitation. This should include, but not be limited to chemical safety, CIP/COP basics, external cleaning, sanitary maintenance oversight, etc.
- Provide an environmental oversight to the sanitation processes at each bottling facility. Inform the Compliance Department of any potential wastewater or discharge issues.
- As needed, review/approve the sanitation SOPs used by our beverage and/or bottled water contract packers (co-packers) and spring water tanker wash station SOPs.
- Work with Supplier Quality to provide sanitation training to in-house Niagara auditors, which conduct co-packer and/or tanker wash station audits and approvals. When necessary assist with these audits.
- Maximize the use of Niagara's document control software Master Control as well as Presage for sanitation/cleaning documentation and record keeping.
- Oversee implementation of Niagara's Master Sanitation Work Order system in Oracle.
- Travel requirement is 75% - on average travels 3 weeks out of the month
