Essential Job Functions

  • Assist the Facilities Supervisor in scheduling work and determining needs for equipment and supplies.
  • Prioritize, schedule, assign and coordinate the work of assigned staff to accomplish a wide variety of duties related to the building trade.
  • Respond to service respond requests or concerns from FHCSD facility staff.
  • Estimate cost of labor and materials for work orders; may be responsible for obtaining competitive prices for services from subcontractors.
  • Supervises staff with the proper usage, maintenance, and storage of Facilities tools and supplies.
  • Preforms building maintenance repairs including but not limited to; flooring, drywall, painting, carpentry, electrical, plumbing, landscape, equipment, concrete, and roofing. Also, miscellaneous repairs and maintenance items, such as hanging bulletin boards, pictures and dispensers, and moving furniture and other items.
  • Operate a variety of equipment and machines including saws, drills and various hand and power tools to perform repair and maintenance work.
  • Assure compliance with appropriate safety practices and procedures and with applicable federal, State and local codes, regulations and requirements.
  • Performs and maintains various audits, logs, and inspections regarding the completion and quality of work by staff.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Education/Certifications/Licenses/Registrations- High School Diploma or GED required.

  • Five (5) or more years experience in one or more skilled trades is required. Direct experience in building repairs and maintenance highly preferred.
  • Prior work crew lead experience is preferred.
  • Ability and means to travel as needed in a timely manner within San Diego County, to locations that may have limited access to public transportation; proof of liability and property damage insurance on vehicle used is required

DRIVER REQUIREMENTS:

Age 21; Licensed for a minimum of 3 years; No violations and/or accidents within 3 years; No vehicle related suspensions/reinstatements; No DUI, reckless or felony Driving within 7 years.


  • Must successfully be enrolled in the DMV pull program and meet organizational driving requirements prior to start date
Experience/Specialized skills (including Language)

  • Ability to follow both written and oral instructions in English.
  • Basic computer literacy (i.e., use system to manage and schedule appointments, access electronic medical record information).
  • Intermediate interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Must have a reliable truck or utility van and hand tools.
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the skills, knowledge and ability to perform the essential job duties, and which meets any required state or federal certification requirements.
