- Client Relationship Management:
- Develop and maintain relationships with commercial clients, understanding their business goals, financial needs, and risk appetite.
- Act as the primary point of contact for clients, providing expert financial advice and guidance on loan products and services.
- Credit Analysis:
- Evaluate the creditworthiness of prospective borrowers by analyzing financial statements, cash flow projections, and other relevant financial metrics.
- Assess the inherent risks associated with each loan application and make informed lending decisions based on established credit policies and procedures.
- Loan Structuring:
- Structure financing solutions that align with the unique needs and objectives of commercial clients, taking into account factors such as loan amount, term, interest rate, and collateral requirements.
- Work closely with internal stakeholders, including credit risk analysts and legal counsel, to ensure loan structures comply with regulatory requirements and bank policies.
- Portfolio Management:
- Monitor the performance of existing loan portfolios, identifying potential credit risks and proactively managing borrower relationships to mitigate losses.
- Conduct periodic reviews of borrower financials and collateral valuations to ensure ongoing compliance with loan covenants and risk tolerance thresholds.
- Business Development:
- Identify opportunities for new business development and revenue growth within the commercial lending market.
- Collaborate with colleagues in other departments, such as commercial banking, treasury management, and private wealth management, to cross-sell products and services and expand the bank's client base.
- Regulatory Compliance:
- Stay abreast of relevant regulatory requirements and industry best practices governing commercial lending activities.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies to mitigate legal and reputational risks.
- Market Research and Analysis:
- Conduct market research and industry analysis to identify emerging trends, competitive dynamics, and potential opportunities or threats within target market segments.
- Use market intelligence to inform lending decisions and develop strategies for maximizing loan origination and profitability.
- Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, business administration, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
- Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in commercial lending, credit analysis, or related financial services roles.
- Strong analytical skills and proficiency in financial modeling, risk assessment, and loan structuring.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and negotiate effectively with clients and internal stakeholders.
- Thorough understanding of banking regulations, compliance requirements, and industry standards governing commercial lending activities.
- Proven track record of business development, revenue generation, and portfolio management in a commercial banking environment.
- Professional certifications such as Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) or Certified Commercial Loan Officer (CCLO) are desirable.
