Essential Job Functions:

Attends work on a regular and predictable schedule in accordance with agency leave policy and performs other duties as assigned.


  • Performs assigned duties for DCPS or other requirement necessary for continuous operation of the DDS system.
  • Establishes standards for customerfocused communication and coordination within areas of responsibility and with all internal and external associates and customers.
  • Accomplishes independent tasks involving special projects, long range planning, and providing systems evaluation/analysis for DDS as assigned by the SMS Unit Manager.
  • Assists DDS System Support in providing back up coverage to resolve a broad range of complex hardware and software problems.
  • Serves as backup for the SMS Unit Manager on tasks related to report preparation, training, and management coordination.
  • Trains new staff in case processing system operations

Knowledge Skills Abilities:

Ability to use Microsoft Windows operating systems, spreadsheet, electronic mail, graphics, SQL tracker database, and 3rd party software.

  • Ability to operate in the case processing system environment.
  • Ability to utilize IBM PC/compatible hardware, disk drives, memory modules, video components, and laser printers.
  • Ability to work with network servers in a Windows environment.
  • Ability to utilize Ethernet LANs.
  • Skill in case system operating principles and procedures.
  • Ability to implement procedures on systems security, virus control, inventory control, and database management.
  • Ability to implement and maintain methods for enhancing customer service delivery.
  • Skill in troubleshooting techniques to diagnose microcomputer hardware and software problems.
  • Skill in writing, editing, and communicating (both verbally and in writing) technical information to staff having a lower level of technical expertise.
  • Skill in organizing and managing multiple tasks to meet overlapping deadlines and to work independently, under pressure, with minimum supervision.
  • Ability to read complex documentation, interpret it for others, and train less experienced staff.
  • Skill in functioning as part of a team and contribute to a harmonious working environment.
  • Skill in communicating with all levels of staff in the Commission, be tactful, patient, and courteous in all interactions.
  • Ability to conform to established policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Ability to move, lift, and install hardware and supplies weighing 40 to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to demonstrate tact, informed presentations, and independent judgment in a leadership role.

Initial Selection Criteria:


  • Graduation from a standard senior high school or equivalent, supplemented by courses in computer science, is generally preferred. Experience and education may be substituted for one another.
  • 2. Two years' experience working in a case processing system or similar environment.
  • 3. One year experience in implementing procedures on systems security, virus control, inventory control, and database management.
  • 4. Two years' experience using Microsoft Windows operating systems, spreadsheet, electronic mail, graphics, SQL tracker database, and 3rd party software.
  • 5. Exhibits a stable work history.

  • This position occasionally requires work during the weekends, holidays, and before or after normal business hours.
