    The Health Professions Division is seeking to hire a skilled educator with a passion for teaching and content expertise in Respiratory Therapy.

    The focus of teaching responsibilities will be in Respiratory Therapy courses.

    Faculty members are expected to be skilled educators, with a passion for teaching and continuous improvement in best practices that support equitable student success.

    The primary responsibilities of full-time faculty are to provide quality education and teaching in a range of community college courses, which may include transfer and/or career technical courses, and to engage in academic professional activities which advance the goals of the College and Division.

    Faculty members are responsible for following College and Division policies and procedures in support of teaching and learning.

    • Application is used to determine initial salary placement for selected candidates. All employment and education history will be considered.
    • Faculty positions are paid based on relevant experience and education in concurrence with Lane's Contracted, Full-time Faculty Salary Schedule.
    • The Faculty benefits package includes a generous contribution toward medical, dental and vision insurance, life insurance, long term disability and paid sick leave.
    • Lane Community College is considered a qualifying public employer for the purposes of the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program. Through the Public Service Loan Forgiveness program, full-time employees working at the College may qualify for forgiveness of the remaining balance on Direct Loans after 120 qualifying monthly payments under a qualifying repayment plan. Questions regarding your loan eligibility should be directed to your loan servicer or to the US Department of Education.

    Required QUALIFICATIONS


    Required Education:
    Bachelor's degree in respiratory care, a health profession, biology, or a related field.

    Required Experience:

    • Four (4) years' experience as an RRT with at least two (2) years' experience in clinical respiratory care.
    • Two (2) years of experience teaching in an accredited respiratory care program either as an appointed faculty member or as a clinical preceptor.

    Position Purpose:
    This position will be the faculty program coordinator for an accredited respiratory care associate's degree program.


    Contracted faculty members are professional educators with the primary responsibilities of providing instruction and academic student support services respectfully, equitably, and inclusively to a diverse, multicultural, and multilingual student population, and professional activities contributing to the college, in alignment with Lane's Vision, Mission, and Values.


    This position performs all of the duties of a full-time educator and college instructor including: instruction of college courses in multiple modalities as assigned, which may include both in-person and online environments; curriculum development and course design; outcomes assessment and program review; mentoring students; professional development; participation in discipline leadership, division and college business; and other professional duties as assigned.


    Essential Functions:
    Instruction


    • Provide instruction in varied learning environments, including but not limited to in-person, online, and hybrid formats.
    • Maintain currency in innovative teaching pedagogies, instructional technologies, and relevant discipline(s).
    • Incorporate current technology, appropriate software applications, appropriate pedagogies, and best practices in instructional delivery.
    • Provide students with continuous, timely, and relevant feedback regarding their performance in coursework; including prompt grading of all coursework and assessments.
    • Confer with students on course materials, coursework, and assessments.
    • Evaluate student achievement of clearly identified learning outcomes, consistent with core ability outcomes.
    • Commit to creating an educational environment that values diversity, promotes equity, and includes multilingualism.
    • May be assigned to teach in content areas for which the faculty member is qualified and/or certified.
    Student Support Services


    • Mentor students.
    • Engage students and encourage retention and persistence.
    • Assist students from diverse backgrounds, abilities, or learning situations to fulfill a wide variety of academic goals.
    • Assist students in accessing various campus support services, such as academic advising, counseling, tutoring, library services, accessible resources, et cetera.
    • Actively support and participate in the development and implementation of practices and systems that promote equity within the division and college; work to promote the recruitment and retention of a diverse faculty, staff, and student body.
    • Engage in and respond to equitable and meaningful student evaluation of courses.

    • Ensure a safe, quality classroom or lab, including equipment, supplies, and inventory.
    • Manage sensitive information with appropriate awareness of FERPA standards; maintain confidentiality and sensitivity to the privacy needs of students.
    • Demonstrate behavior consistent with the Statement on Professional Ethics of the American Association of University Professors.
    Curriculum Design, Improvements, and Planning


    • Develop and revise course content and materials as needed to maintain curricular currency and consistency with learning outcomes.
    • Establish and review learning outcomes consistent with core ability outcomes, assess outcomes using appropriate assessment tools, and use assessment results to make improvements at a program and course level, including assessing and enhancing multicultural, diversity, antiracist, and equitable frameworks.
    • Meet institutional and accreditation requirements for student learning assessment at the course and program levels.
    • Incorporate college values into curriculum and promote a respectful learning environment.
    • Promote and facilitate awareness in developing multicultural, diversity-based, and antiracist curricula.
    • Develop all class syllabi and course materials with universal design in an accessible form that can be delivered directly to and used by students of varied abilities.
    • Develop online and classroom presentation and delivery techniques that incorporate learning-centered concepts.
    • Create a partnership with library, information, and academic technology resources personnel and ensure that the use of these resources is integrated into the learning process (NWCCU Standard 2.A.8).
    • Develop learning strategies and processes that will promote successful teaching.
    • Actively engage in professional development to incorporate emerging technologies for use with instructional delivery methods as appropriate.
    • Actively engage in academic program review.
    • Collaborate with colleagues in a process of continuous improvement to develop and update courses, assignments, lab exercises, testing criteria, teaching aids, and training and reference materials, as applicable.
    • Ensure curriculum development is coordinated across disciplines and programs to support smooth student progression along educational paths.
    • Partner with high school teachers and college staff to articulate programs and course work from regional high schools.
    • Provide leadership in evaluating curriculum and making changes to meet the needs of historically marginalized student populations.

    Supervision Statement:


    Faculty report to a Division Dean, and perform instructional and professional duties and responsibilities in a timely manner and in accordance with the mission, policies, and procedures of the college.


    Physical Demands/Working Environment:
    This position works in varied environments.

    May be exposed to usual office, industry, education, and commercial working conditions that include noises, interruptions, equipment, telephones, and visitors.

    This position requires that an employee be able to sit or stand for extended periods of time. May perform cognitive and psychometric work for more than six (6) hours a day. Work may require transporting materials up to twenty-five (25) pounds.
