Minimum Requirements
- Dedicated to building a recreational program that serves the community, passionate about soccer, and dedicated to making a positive impact on the lives of children in our community
- Highly motivated selfstarter capable of working independently
- Associates degree or higher
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with children, parents, volunteers, and staff members
- Strong organizational and computer skills
- Ability to use Excel or Google Sheets to manage databases of teams, players, coaches, managers, schedules, and tournaments
- Ability to work in person on weekends and evenings during the recreational seasons to setup and tear down goals, nets, etc., and to oversee game days and practices
- Ability to lift more than 50 pounds
- Clean background check and reliable transportation
- Bilingual (Spanish) is preferred, but not required
- 5 years of soccer coaching experience
- 4v4, 7v7, 9v9, and 11v11 US Soccer Grassroots Coaching License (required within three months of employment)
- US Soccer Federation Grassroots Referee Certification (required within three months of employment)
Responsible for the planning, execution, and growth of the Recreation Program at City SC San Marcos while demonstrating a positive attitude and superior customer service and organizational skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Program Development & Management
- Ensure smooth operation of all Recreation programs including but not limited to:
- Building and managing Recreation calendar and annual Budget in collaboration with Board of Directors
- Opening/managing player registrations, creating balanced teams, building schedules in League's online portal (TeamSnap)
- In coordination with staff/volunteers from Competitive Department, manage field permits and allocations from the City, and Team usage/assignments
- Schedule referees for games
- Build Youth Referee Program for 7v7 games
- Secure Grassroots Referee Certification
- Manage player rating database and assessments
- Order and distribute necessary equipment, uniforms, trophies, and Spirit Wear
- Maintain and manage inventory of essential items
- Ensure proper care of equipment
- Coordinate Picture Day in coordination with Competitive Department and hired photographer
- Awareness and ability to take charge of any situation to ensure the safety of players, spectators, and referees
- Monitor program quality and participation satisfaction, implementing improvements as needed
- Develop, implement, and execute new programs to achieve growth and player retention within Recreation Department
- Identify and reach out to potential sponsors
- Negotiate partnerships and agreements with suppliers
- Volunteer Recruitment & Management
- Recruit, screen, train, and schedule all volunteer coaches and team managers
- Provide training, coaching, guidance, and supervision for all volunteer coaches and team managers
- Work with Registrar and CFO to ensure completion of background checks for all volunteers
- Work with Board of Directors to celebrate and recognize volunteers
- Work with staff/volunteers from Competitive Department to remove benefits from families who have not met the mandatory service hours per their agreement
- League Marketing & Communication
- Create and execute Marketing plans for all Recreation programs
- Create graphics and flyers for communication
- Maintain regular communication with league members, volunteers, and staff members, addressing any concerns or questions promptly
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all Recreation programrelated inquiries
- Develop League Marketing calendar in coordination with employees and volunteers from the Competitive Department
- Manage and maintain the League's Social Media channels (for both Recreation and Competitive) and website including online calendar (for Recreation)
- With content provided by the Competitive department, write and send monthly League Newsletters
- Represent the League by coordinating and attending the City of San Marcos community sponsored events, including but not limited to: Spring Egg Scramble, Spring Faire, Fall Festival, and Annual Tree Lighting Holiday Festival.
