    Nature of Work

    This is a part-time, 20-hour-per-week position involving various tasks related to the physical flow and upkeep of library materials.

    Examples of work:
    • Sorts, routes, checks-in, and shelves library materials accurately and efficiently.
    • Reviews shelved library materials to ensure accuracy of placement.
    • Maintains order and attractiveness of library collections through balancing, edging, and shifting materials.
    • Clears areas such as carts, baskets, and tables of library materials.
    • Performs other tasks of a similar nature as assigned
    We currently have the following position available:
    Main Library

    Week A:

    Monday - Thursday: 9 am - 1 pm

    Saturday: 9 am - 1 pm

    Week B:

    Monday - Thursday: 9 am - 1 pm

    Friday: 9 am - 1 pm

    This position will be regularly scheduled at the listed branch. However, this position will also be required to periodically work shifts at other branches as needed.
    Minimum Training and Experience
    • This position requires no previous training or special knowledge of library routines, but applicants must be able to work the posted schedule.
    • Must be at least 14 years of age and able to obtain a work permit.
    • Completion of the tenth grade or an equivalent combination of training and experience required.
    Other Necessary Qualifications
    • Ability to work the stated schedule for at least 6 months.
    • Ability to stand, walk, reach, and bend in order to place materials on shelves for a period of at least four hours.
    • Ability to lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance and to push carts of materials weighing up to 400 pounds.
    • Visual acuity sufficient to read call numbers on spine labels of items and information on computer screens.
    • Ability to perform repetitive tasks independently, accurately, and efficiently is required.
    • Possession of basic technology skills; ability to access, input, and receive information from a computer workstation or related technology.
    • Ability to sort and file alphabetically and numerically; ability to pass related Page test.
    Other Information

    Applicants will need to pass the Page Test after their interview to be considered for the position. The Page Test involves putting call numbers in alpha-numeric order and will be administered on site directly after the interview.
