Director of Nursing Duties and Responsibilities:

These duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Primary responsibility for team leadership and supervision of clinical staff of all clinical departments and branches to ensure that key benchmark indicators are successfully met.
  • Perform clinical duties that may include intake activities of agency patients including nursing assessments and care plans, care coordination, patient care oversight, periodic patient visits, staff supervision and quality assurance activities (QA).
  • Onsite orientation of the service plan to caregivers providing care to a client for the first time.
  • Assist with hiring of appropriate staff and orientation/inservice training serving as a liaison with appropriate management personnel and affiliate departments and committees.
  • Implementation of policies and guidelines for home health clinical personnel, providing professional input to related administrative process, and systems.
  • Direct and supervise professional and auxiliary personnel rendering patient care services.
  • Assist with marketing and communicating the concept of quality patient care to the general community.

Director of Nursing Qualifications:


  • Registered Nurse (RN) currently licensed and in good standing in the state of Texas with a BSN from an accredited school of Nursing.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in a Medicare certified Home Health agency.
  • Knowledge of CHAP accreditation body standards is a plus and Medicare conditions of participation knowledge is a must.
  • Possess the ability to plan, organize, develop, implement and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies and procedures that are necessary for providing the highest quality of care.
