CAD Operator
The CAD Operator is responsible for implementing and maintaining CAD drawing data and related documentation on security projects.

The CAD Operator must be able to independently update drawing data and create shop drawings for implementation of electronic devices, power supplies and all related network components and equipment.


The CAD Operator must be a knowledgeable self-starter who can make sound decisions that are in the best interest of the project, the customer, and Unlimited Technology.

Further, the CAD Operator must be able to learn UT's methodologies and adapt to ongoing project changes. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and working closely with project stakeholders are required.


This position consists of a hybrid work schedule and will require 3 days in our Herndon, VA office and 2 days remote.


Required duties and responsibilities:


  • Create engineering drawings of various Access Control and CCTV systems using Autodesk AutoCAD 2015 or later.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD Sheet Set Manager, X-Referencing drawing data, Dynamic Block Creation, Attributed Data, and Dynamic linking of data objects within the CAD environment.
  • Ability to import and export various data types in the CAD environment.
  • Data management and version control of drawing data and related supporting documentation.
  • Audit and review drawing content.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers, Subcontractors and UT installers to ensure understanding of drawing content.
  • Demonstrate understanding of construction documentation and basic construction requirements and include them in drawings.
  • The applicant must have practical knowledge of reading redlines and tracking drawing revisions.
  • Must have knowledge of industry drawing standards.
  • Knowledge of basic construction processes and procedures.
  • Knowledge of physical security systems and components (card readers, locks, CCTV cameras, ACS panels, etc.) and how the technologies and parts fit together, talk with one another, etc.
  • Proficient in the use of a tablet and computer with Windows Professional, Outlook, and other Microsoft Office products.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and the ability to work well and interact with other UT employees as well as UT customers when required.
  • Ability to work with mínimal supervision; must be a selfstarter and quick learner.
  • Familiarity with Physical Security

Additional desired experiences & knowledge, but not required:

  • Experience working with BIM coordination procedures and technology.
  • Knowledge of Autodesk Revit and NavisWorks.
  • Working knowledge of Bluebeam.
  • Working knowledge and experience with designing Physical Security systems, putting together or reviewing a bill of material for accuracy.
  • Working knowledge of any of the below manufacturers and their hardware components:
  • Genetec, Mercury, SoftwareHouse, Lenel/S2, Gallagher, Axis, Hanwha, Commend, Aiphone
