A Doctor's Assistant (Optometric Technician) is a valuable addition to an optometrist as they help provide top-notch patient care during their visit.
An Optometric Technician carries out various duties using optical equipment to perform initial tests required to prepare a patient for an examination with an optometrist.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Deliver exceptional customer service during each patient interaction, whether in person or over the phone
- Show professionalism, greet patients warmly, and express gratitude upon their departure
- Prioritize patient's and doctor's time, following company policies including HIPAA regulations
- Operate various optical equipment and follow testing protocols
- Maintain cleanliness of examination equipment
- Adjust phoropter settings as needed
- Demonstrate knowledge of eye anatomy, diseases, and medications
- Perform general office tasks and cleaning duties as assigned

- Access to reliable transportation for flexibility in working at multiple locations
- Willingness to work weekends if required
- Desire for continuous learning in the industry
- Take initiative to achieve practice goals
- Foster a positive work environment by being team-focused and patient-centered
- Ability to communicate professionally with all levels of staff
- Commitment to working extra hours as needed
Education and/or Experience
High school diploma or equivalent, with related experience/training
Physical Demands
Requires manual dexterity and ability to lift up to 25 pounds, with specific vision abilities
