    Job Summary


    The Project Manager is responsible for identifying opportunities, analyzing data, proposing and implementing plans for production process optimization and seeking out ways to maximize material and labor efficiencies that directly impact our overall operating costs.


    Applies theories and principles of engineering, science and mathematics to design, develop and execute technical projects in a USDA and FDA regulated facility.

    Develops and executes project assignments in a collaborative fashion with operations, maintenance, and R&D teams.

    Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

    Design Work


    • Conducts engineering planning, design and operational analyses in pre-project studies.
    • Develops project cost estimates.
    • Performs design work including researching data, conducting feasibility and economic studies.
    • Determines design criteria in accordance with required standards and codes for assigned projects.
    • Performs field work and adapts collections to translate completed projects into as-built drawings.
    • Confers with maintenance and operations teams to implement plans and recommendations.
    Design Implementation


    • Coordinates and provides direction to equipment vendors to plan layouts, meet utilities requirements and maintain installation schedules.
    • Reviews consultants' submitted work products and recommends adjustments as appropriate.
    Reports and Proposals


    • Determines scope of work, prepares requests for proposals and evaluates proposals.
    • Submits weekly reports to management by established deadlines.
    Review of Bids and Project Preparation


    • Assists in contract administration including review of bid packages.
    • Prepares project documents including justifications, budget analyses, calculations, plans and schedules.
    • Monitors installations and ensures proposal specifications and budgets are met.
    • Manages budget activities as assigned.
    Education and Experience

    • Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited four-year college or university in Engineering, Food Technology or related field and 2 years of experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience, required.
    • Strong knowledge of meat processing, and case ready application, preferred.
    • Knowledge of engineering principles and techniques related to food processing and the meat industry, preferred.
    Skills and Abilities

    • Ability to apply sound engineering principles to operational and design issues.
    • Knowledge of installation and construction project scheduling.
    • Must possess Project Management skills; Contract Administration skills; National codes and standards interpretation skills
    • Proficient in engineering economics.
    • Proficient in AutoCAD, Excel, Word, and other Microsoft suite products
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills, organizational planning, teamwork, analytical reasoning and adaptability.
    • Ability to work well with others in fast paced, dynamic environment.
    • Ability to be respectful, approachable and team oriented while building strong working relationships and a positive work environment.
    • Continue and strengthen a culture of inclusion and diversity to drive results in safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
    • Display positive leadership with demonstrated respect for others.
    • Reliable and regular transportation and attendance.
    Working Environment and Physical Demands

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to stand and walk.

    The employee is frequently required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, and feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; taste and smell.

    The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.

    Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

    The employee will be exposed to a noisy environment that varies from hot to cold in temperature.
