Description

POSITION: Scientific Activity / Project Work

Your Mission:

At the Department of Product Lifecycle Management at the Institute for Maintenance and Modification, we focus on research and development of innovative methods for evaluating and optimizing sustainability in the aviation industry. One of our research priorities is the life cycle-based economic and ecological assessment of aircraft maintenance processes and novel aircraft concepts. We are looking for a scientific employee to support our department in further developing these life cycle simulations. Your task will be to design and implement a suitable ontology to collect, propagate, and prepare information from various software tools for life cycle mapping and for further studies. This includes a systematic requirements analysis regarding the various internal and external interfaces and their technical transfer into a suitable data exchange format using Python. In addition to utilizing synergies and connecting internal tools to DLR-wide and/or external software environments, this ontology aims to establish a standard for life cycle simulations using discrete event simulation. Furthermore, the data collected from different projects and studies will be gathered and made available for subsequent statistical analysis. This will enable quick assessments of costs or environmental impacts over the life cycle. You will work in an interdisciplinary team and contribute to sustainable solutions for the aviation industry. Your role is essential for the development and application of advanced technologies and methods that will have a significant impact on our research and the industry.

Your tasks in detail:

  • systematic capture and analysis of specific requirements for efficient data management,
